Першую кнігу я склаў, о Тэофіле, пра ўсё, што Ісус пачаў рабіць і чаму вучыць

The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

аж да таго дня, калі Ён быў узнесены, даўшы праз Святога Духа наказы Апосталам, якіх Ён выбраў;

Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

якім Ён і паказаў Сябе жывым, пасля Сваіх пакутаў, многімі бясспрэчнымі доказамі, на працягу сарака дзён з’яўляючыся ім і кажучы пра Царства Божае.

To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

І, сабраўшы іх, Ён загадаў ім не адлучацца ад Іерусаліма, а чакаць абяцанага Бацькам: Пра што вы чулі ад Мяне,

And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

бо Іаан хрысціў вадою, вы ж праз некалькі гэтых дзён будзеце ахрышчаны Святым Духам.

For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Дык тыя, што зышліся, пыталіся ў Яго, кажучы: Госпадзе, ці не ў гэты час Ты ўзнаўляеш царства Ізраілю?

When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

Ён жа сказаў ім: Не вам ведаць часы ці абставіны, якія Бацька вызначыў Сваёю ўладаю,

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

але вы атрымаеце сілу, калі Святы Дух зыдзе на вас, і вы будзеце Маімі сведкамі і ў Іерусаліме, і ва ўсёй Іудзеі, і ў Самарыі, і аж да краю зямлі.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

І, сказаўшы гэта, калі яны яшчэ бачылі Яго, Ён быў узняты, і воблака забрала Яго ад іх вачэй.

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

І калі яны пільна ўглядаліся ў неба, як Ён узыходзіў, і вось, сталі пры іх у белых шатах два чалавекі,

And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

якія і сказалі: Мужы галілейскія, што вы стаіце, углядаючыся ў неба? Гэты Ісус, узнесены ад вас у неба, прыйдзе гэтак жа, як вы бачылі Яго, калі Ён узыходзіў у неба.

Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Тады яны вярнуліся ў Іерусалім з гары, якая называецца Элеон і знаходзіцца паблізу Іерусаліма, адлеглая на суботні дзень хады1.

Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.

І калі яны ўвайшлі, то падняліся ў верхні пакой, дзе яны жылі: Пётр, Іаан, Іякаў2 і Андрэй, Філіп і Фама, Варфаламей і Матфей, Іякаў, сын Алфееў, Сіман Зілот і Іуда, брат Іякаваў.

And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.

Усе яны аднадушна шчыравалі ў малітве [і прашэнні] разам з жанчынамі і з Марыям3, Ісусавай маці, і [з] Яго братамі.

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

І ў гэтыя дні Пётр, стаўшы пасярэдзіне братоў4, сказаў, (а была грамада людзей разам каля ста дваццаці):

And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

Мужы браты, належала спраўдзіцца Пісанню, у якім Святы Дух наперад сказаў вуснамі Давідавымі пра Іуду, які зрабіўся павадыром для тых, хто схапіў Ісуса,

Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

бо ён быў залічаны да нас і атрымаў жэрабя гэтага служэння.

For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

Дык ён набыў поле платаю за няправеднасць і, упаўшы ўніз галавою, лопнуў пасярэдзіне, і вываліся ўсе яго вантробы.

Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

І гэта стала вядома ўсім жыхарам Іерусаліма, так што поле тое названа на іх уласнай гаворцы Акелдамах, гэта значыць «поле крыві».

And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.

Бо напісана ў кнізе Псалмоў: «Няхай апусцее дом яго і няхай ніхто не жыве ў ім» і «пасаду яго няхай прыме іншы».

For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.

Дык трэба, каб з людзей, хто спадарожнічаў разам з намі ўвесь час, калі сярод нас уваходзіў і выходзіў Госпад Ісус,

Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

пачынаючы ад Іаанавага хрышчэння да таго дня, калі Ён быў узнесены ад нас, — каб адзін з іх быў разам з намі сведка Яго ўваскрэсення.

Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

І паставілі двух: Іосіфа, якога звалі Варсавам, па мянушцы Юст, і Матфія.

And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

І, памаліўшыся, яны сказалі: Ты, Госпадзе, Сэрцазнаўца ўсіх, пакажы, каго Ты аднаго выбраў з гэтых двух,

And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,

каб ён прыняў месца5 гэтага служэння і Апостальства, ад якога адпаў Іуда, каб пайсці ў сваё месца.

That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

І далі ім жэрабі. І выпала жэрабя на Матфія, і ён быў прылічаны да адзінаццаці Апосталаў.

And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
