Павел, раб Божы і Апостал Іісуса Хрыста дзе́ля веры абра́ных Божых і спазнання ісціны, якая прыводзіць да набожнасці,

Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness —

у надзеі на жыццё вечнае, якое паабяца́ў праўдзівы ў слове Бог раней часоў адвечных,

in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time,

а ў належны час явіў слова Сваё ў пропаведзі, даверанай мне па загаду Спасіцеля нашага, Бога, —

and which now at his appointed season he has brought to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior,

Ціту, сапраўднаму сыну па супольнай веры: благадаць, міласць і мір ад Бога Айца і Госпада Іісуса Хрыста, Спасіцеля нашага.

To Titus, my true son in our common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

Дзеля таго я пакінуў цябе на Крыце, каб ты недакончанае завяршыў і паставіў па ўсіх гарадах прасвітараў, як я табе наказваў:

The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appointa elders in every town, as I directed you.

калі хто беззаганны, адной жонкі муж, дзяцей ма́е веруючых, якіх нельга абвінаваціць у распусце або непакорлівасці.

An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believeb and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.

Бо епіскап павінен быць беззаганны як Божы домаўпраўнік, не сваявольны, не гняўлівы, не п’яніца, не задзірысты, не карыслівы,

Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless — not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.

а гасцінны, дабралюбівы, разва́жлівы, справядлівы, набожны, стры́маны,

Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.

павінен трымацца правільнага слова, адпаведнага вучэнню, каб ён быў здольны і настаўляць у здаровым вучэнні, і выкрываць тых, хто працівіцца.

He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

Бо ёсць шмат і непакорлівых, пустасловаў і падманшчыкаў, асабліва з абрэзаных,

For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group.

якіх трэба прымусіць замаўчаць: яны разбура́юць цэлыя сем’і, навучаючы дзеля гане́бнай кары́слівасці таму, чаму не належыць вучы́ць.

They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach — and that for the sake of dishonest gain.

Сказаў жа нехта з іх, іх уласны вяшчун: «Крыця́не заўсёды лгуны, злыя звяры, пражэ́рлівыя гультаі».

One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”c

Сведчанне гэтае праўдзівае. З гэтай прычыны выкрывай іх строга, каб яны былі здаровымі ў веры,

This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith

каб не зважа́лі на Іудзейскія байкі і ўстанаўленні людзей, якія адварочваюцца ад ісціны.

and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth.

Для чыстых усё чыстае, для апаганеных жа і няверных няма нічога чыстага, бо апаганены і розум іх, і сумленне.

To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

Яны сцвярджаюць, што знаюць Бога; а справамі сваімі адракаюцца, бу́дучы агíднымі і непакорлівымі і ні на якую добрую справу нязда́тнымі.

They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.
