Сíман Пётр, раб і Апостал Іісуса Хрыста, — тым, якія адно́лькава кашто́ўную, як і наша, веру прынялí па пра́веднасці Бога нашага і Спасіцеля Іісуса Хрыста́:

This letter is from Simona Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to you who share the same precious faith we have. This faith was given to you because of the justice and fairnessb of Jesus Christ, our God and Savior.

благада́ць і мір вам няхай прымно́жацца праз пазна́нне Бога і Хрыста Іісуса, Госпада нашага.

May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.

Пако́лькі Божая сіла Яго адары́ла нас усім неабхо́дным для жыцця́ і набо́жнасці праз пазна́нне Таго, Хто паклíкаў нас сла́ваю і даскана́ласцю,

By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.

якімі яна дала́ нам найвялíкшыя і кашто́ўныя абяца́нні, каб праз іх вы ста́лі ўдзе́льнікамі Божай прыроды, аддалíўшыся ад пану́ючага ў све́це растле́ння пажа́длівасцю, —

And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

то вы, прыклада́ючы да гэтага ўсе намага́нні, пакажы́це ў ве́ры вашай дабрадзе́йнасць, у дабрадзе́йнасці — разва́жлівасць,

In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge,

у разва́жлівасці — устры́манасць, ва ўстры́манасці — цярплíвасць, у цярплíвасці — набо́жнасць,

and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness,

у набо́жнасці — браталю́бства, у браталю́бстве — любо́ў.

and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.

Бо калі гэта ў вас ёсць і прымнажа́ецца, то яно не пакíне вас бяздзе́йнымі і бяспло́днымі ў пазна́нні Госпада нашага Іісуса Хрыста́;

The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

а ў кім няма́ гэ́тага, той сляпы́, блізару́кі, забы́ў пра ачышчэ́нне ране́йшых грахоў сваіх.

But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.

Таму, браты́, яшчэ больш стара́йцеся, каб ваша паклíканне і абра́нне стала трыва́лым; робячы так, вы ніколі не спатыкняце́ся,

So, dear brothers and sisters,c work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.

бо так адкры́ецца вам свабо́дны ўваход у ве́чнае Царства Госпада нашага і Спасіцеля Іісуса Хрыста.

Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Таму я ніколі не пераста́ну нага́дваць вам пра гэта, хоць вы тое ве́даеце і ўмацава́ны ў гэтай íсціне.

Therefore, I will always remind you about these things — even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth you have been taught.

Але нале́жным лічу́, пакуль застаю́ся ў гэтай цяле́снай хацíне, абуджа́ць вас напамíнам,

And it is only right that I should keep on reminding you as long as I live.d

ве́даючы, што неўзаба́ве забра́на будзе ў мяне хацíна, як і Гасподзь наш Іісус Хрыстос адкры́ў мне.

For our Lord Jesus Christ has shown me that I must soon leave this earthly life,e

Буду ж намага́цца, каб і пасля майго адыхо́ду, вы заўсёды ме́лі ў сабе памяць пра гэта.

so I will work hard to make sure you always remember these things after I am gone.

Бо мы абвясцíлі вам сілу і прышэ́сце Госпада нашага Іісуса Хрыста, не за хíтра спле́ценымі ба́йкамі пасле́даваўшы, а бы́ўшы све́дкамі Яго ве́лічы.

For we were not making up clever stories when we told you about the powerful coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We saw his majestic splendor with our own eyes

Бо Ён прыня́ў ад Бога Айца паша́ну і сла́ву, калі ад ве́лічнай славы прыйшоў да Яго вось такі голас: «Гэта Сын Мой узлю́блены, Якога Я ўпадаба́ў».

when he received honor and glory from God the Father. The voice from the majestic glory of God said to him, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”f

І гэты голас, які прыйшоў з нябёсаў, чулі мы, калі былí з Ім на свято́й гары́.

We ourselves heard that voice from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.

Яшчэ мы маем наймацне́йшае праро́чае сло́ва, і вы добра ро́біце, звярта́ючыся да яго, як да свяцíльніка, што ззяе ў цёмным ме́сцы, паку́ль не пачне́ днець і не ўзы́дзе ра́нішняя зорка ў сэ́рцах вашых,

Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place — until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shinesg in your hearts.

ве́даючы перш за ўсё тое, што нія́кае прароцтва ў Пісанні не дапуска́е асабíстага тлумачэ́ння.

Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding,h

Бо ніколі праро́цтва не было́ абве́шчана па волі чалаве́чай, а прамаўля́лі яго святы́я Божыя людзі, натхнёныя Ду́хам Святы́м.

or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.
