ГОСПОДЬ говорил с Моисеем в Шатре Откровения (было это в Синайской пустыне в первый день второго месяца, на втором году после ухода сынов Израилевых из Египта) и поручил ему и Аарону:

 

And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

«Исчислите всех в общине Израиля — род за родом, семью за семьей — всех мужчин поименно, одного за другим,

 

Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls;

от двадцати лет и старше — всех годных в войско израильское. Тебе с Аароном надо будет зачислить их в войсковые соединения.

 

From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.

[4-5] В помощь вам будут по одному человеку от каждого колена, главы в семьях своих. Вот их имена: Элицур, сын Шедеура, — от колена Рувима;

 

And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.

 

And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you: of the tribe of Reuben; Elizur the son of Shedeur.

Шелумиэль, сын Цуришаддая, — от колена Симеона;

 

Of Simeon; Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

Нахшон, сын Амминадава, — от Иудина колена;

 

Of Judah; Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

Нетанэль,1 сын Цуара, — от Иссахарова колена;

 

Of Issachar; Nethaneel the son of Zuar.

Элиав, сын Хелона, — от колена Завулона;

 

Of Zebulun; Eliab the son of Helon.

Элишама, сын Аммихуда, — от Ефремова колена; Гамлиэль, сын Педацура, — от колена Манассии; (Ефрем и Манассия — сыновья Иосифа).

 

Of the children of Joseph: of Ephraim; Elishama the son of Ammihud: of Manasseh; Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

Авидан, сын Гидони — от Вениаминова колена;

 

Of Benjamin; Abidan the son of Gideoni.

Ахиэзер, сын Аммишаддая, — от колена Данова;

 

Of Dan; Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

Пагиэль, сын Охрана, — от Асирова колена;

 

Of Asher; Pagiel the son of Ocran.

Эльясаф, сын Деуэля, — от Гадова колена;

 

Of Gad; Eliasaph the son of Deuel.

Ахира, сын Энана, — от колена Неффалима».

 

Of Naphtali; Ahira the son of Enan.

Те, кого из всей общины Бог избрал, — главы тысяч Израилевых, вожди2 тех колен, что ведут начало свое от двенадцати их предков.

 

These were the renowned of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers, heads of thousands in Israel.

Моисей с Аароном собрали всех этих названных поименно мужчин

 

And Moses and Aaron took these men which are expressed by their names:

и вместе с ними в тот первый день второго месяца созвали всю общину. В тот день все израильтяне, достигшие двадцати лет, ответили на вопрос о своем происхождении, указали, из какого они рода и какой семьи; и каждый из них был взят на учет поименно,

 

And they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month, and they declared their pedigrees after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, by their polls.

как повелел ГОСПОДЬ Моисею. И пересчитал он их в пустыне Синайской.

 

As the LORD commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.

Из потомков Рувима, первенца Израилева, пересчитаны были все мужчины от двадцати лет и старше; все, кто был годен к воинской службе, были зачислены в войско поименно, один за другим, в соответствии с учетом, что провели в каждом их роде и семействе.

 

And the children of Reuben, Israel's eldest son, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

Число таковых в колене Рувима составило сорок шесть тысяч пятьсот человек.

 

Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Reuben, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.

Из потомков Симеона были пересчитаны все мужчины от двадцати лет и старше; все, кто был годен к воинской службе, были зачислены в войско поименно, один за другим, в соответствии с учетом, что провели в каждом их роде и семействе.

 

Of the children of Simeon, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, those that were numbered of them, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

Число таковых в колене Симеона составило пятьдесят девять тысяч триста человек.

 

Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.

Из потомков Гада были пересчитаны все мужчины от двадцати лет и старше; все, кто был годен к воинской службе, были зачислены в войско поименно, один за другим, в соответствии с учетом, что провели в каждом их роде и семействе.

 

Of the children of Gad, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

Число таковых в колене Гадовом составило сорок пять тысяч шестьсот пятьдесят человек.

 

Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Gad, were forty and five thousand six hundred and fifty.

Из потомков Иуды были пересчитаны все мужчины от двадцати лет и старше; все, кто был годен к воинской службе, были зачислены в войско поименно, один за другим, в соответствии с учетом, что провели в каждом их роде и семействе.

 

Of the children of Judah, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

Число таковых в колене Иудином составило семьдесят четыре тысячи шестьсот человек.

 

Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Judah, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.

Из потомков Иссахара были пересчитаны все мужчины от двадцати лет и старше; все, кто был годен к воинской службе, были зачислены в войско поименно, один за другим, в соответствии с учетом, что провели в каждом их роде и семействе.

 

Of the children of Issachar, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

Число таковых в колене Иссахаровом составило пятьдесят четыре тысячи четыреста человек.

 

Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.

Из потомков Завулона были пересчитаны все мужчины от двадцати лет и старше; все, кто был годен к воинской службе, были зачислены в войско поименно, один за другим, в соответствии с учетом, что провели в каждом их роде и семействе.

 

Of the children of Zebulun, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

Число таковых в колене Завулоновом составило пятьдесят семь тысяч четыреста человек.

 

Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.

[32-35] Из потомков Иосифа, то есть потомков Ефрема и Манассии, были пересчитаны все мужчины от двадцати лет и старше; все, кто был годен к воинской службе, были зачислены в войско поименно, один за другим, в соответствии с учетом, что провели в каждом их роде и семействе. Число таковых в колене Ефрема составило сорок тысяч пятьсот человек, а в колене Манассии — тридцать две тысячи двести человек.

 

Of the children of Joseph, namely, of the children of Ephraim, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

 

Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand and five hundred.

 

Of the children of Manasseh, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

 

Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.

Из потомков Вениамина были пересчитаны все мужчины от двадцати лет и старше; все, кто был годен к воинской службе, были зачислены в войско поименно, один за другим, в соответствии с учетом, что провели в каждом их роде и семействе.

 

Of the children of Benjamin, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

Число таковых в колене Вениаминовом составило тридцать пять тысяч четыреста человек.

 

Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred.

Из потомков Дана были пересчитаны все мужчины от двадцати лет и старше; все, кто был годен к воинской службе, были зачислены в войско поименно, один за другим, в соответствии с учетом, что провели в каждом их роде и семействе.

 

Of the children of Dan, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

Число таковых в колене Дановом составило шестьдесят две тысячи семьсот человек.

 

Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Dan, were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.

Из потомков Асира были пересчитаны все мужчины от двадцати лет и старше; все, кто был годен к воинской службе, были зачислены в войско поименно, один за другим, в соответствии с учетом, что провели в каждом их роде и семействе.

 

Of the children of Asher, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

Число таковых в колене Асировом составило сорок одну тысячу пятьсот человек.

 

Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Asher, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.

Из потомков Неффалима были пересчитаны все мужчины от двадцати лет и старше; все, кто был годен к воинской службе, были зачислены в войско поименно, один за другим, в соответствии с учетом, что провели в каждом их роде и семействе.

 

Of the children of Naphtali, throughout their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

Число таковых в колене Неффалимовом составило пятьдесят три тысячи четыреста человек.

 

Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

Таковы были данные того подсчета, который провели Моисей с Аароном вместе с двенадцатью израильскими вождями, представлявшими все семьи своего колена.

 

These are those that were numbered, which Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers.

И общее число всех израильтян во всех их родах и семьях, общее число мужчин от двадцати лет и старше, кто был годен к воинской службе в Израиле

 

So were all those that were numbered of the children of Israel, by the house of their fathers, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war in Israel;

и был взят на учет, составило шестьсот три тысячи пятьсот пятьдесят человек.

 

Even all they that were numbered were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

Однако подсчет левитов по их семействам наряду с другими израильтянами не проводился,

 

But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.

ведь ГОСПОДЬ так сказал Моисею:

 

For the LORD had spoken unto Moses, saying,

«Только не считай никого из колена Левия, не включай их в общий подсчет с остальными сынами Израилевыми.

 

Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel:

У левитов будет свое служение: возложи на них ответственность за Скинию, хранящую в себе Свидетельство о воле Господней, и за принадлежности ее, и за всё, что в ней. Им надлежит носить Скинию со всей утварью ее; им и служить при ней и вкруг нее разбивать свой стан.

 

But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.

Левиты будут разбирать и складывать Скинию, когда придется отправляться в путь, и они же будут устанавливать ее всякий раз во время стоянок. А если кто, на это служение не посвященный,3 дерзнет к нему приступить, тот должен быть предан смерти.

 

And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

Все прочие израильтяне должны располагаться поодаль в станах своих под собственными знаменами, по войсковым соединениям их.

 

And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their hosts.

Левитам же следует разбивать свой стан вокруг Скинии, в коей Свидетельство о воле Господней. И не падет тогда гнев Его на общину Израиля — левиты всегда будут стражами Скинии Свидетельства».

 

But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony.

Всё так и сделали израильтяне. Как повелел ГОСПОДЬ Моисею, так они и сделали.

 

And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did they.
