Якуб, слуга Бога і Госпада Ісуса Хрыста, вітае дванаццаць пакаленняў, што ў расцярушанні.

James, a bond-servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes who are dispersed abroad: Greetings.

Браты мае! Уважайце сабе за вялікую радасць, калі трапляеце ў розныя спакусы.

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,

Ведайце, што выпрабаванне веры вашай выклікае цярплівасць.

knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

Цярплівасць жа будзе мець дасканалае дзеянне, каб вы былі дасканалымі ды беззаганнымі, без ніякіх недахопаў.

And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Калі ж каму з вас не хапае мудрасці, хай просіць яе ў Бога, Які дае ўсім шчодра і без дакораў, і будзе дадзена яму.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Хай жа ён просіць з вераю, ані крыху не сумняваючыся, бо хто сумняваецца, той падобны да марской хвалі, якую вецер падымае і ганяе.

But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.

Хай гэткі чалавек не спадзяецца атрымаць што-колечы ад Госпада,

For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,

чалавек дваісты ў душы, нетрывалы на ўсіх сваіх шляхах.

being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Хай пакорны брат ганарыцца сваім узвышэннем,

But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position;

а багаты — сваім прыніжэннем, бо праміне ён, як краска палявая.

and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away.

Бо ўзышло ўпальнае сонца і высушыла траву, ды апала краска яе, і знік прыгожы выгляд яе. Так і багаты змарнее на шляхах сваіх.

For the sun rises with a scorching wind and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so too the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away.

Шчасны чалавек, які выстаіць у спакусе, бо па выпрабаванні атрымае вянок жыцця, які абяцае Бог тым, што любяць Яго.

Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

Хай ніхто спакушаны не кажа: «Бог мяне спакушае», бо Бог не спакушаецца ліхам ды Сам нікога не спакушае.

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.

Спакушаецца кожны сваёй пажадлівасцю, захоплены яе прывабнасцю.

But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.

А пажадлівасць, пачаўшы, спараджае грэх, а грэх, калі бывае ўчынены, спараджае смерць.

Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.

Не дапускайце аблуд, браты мае найдаражэйшыя!

Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.

Усякае дабро, што нам даецца, ды ўсякі дар дасканалы з вышыні ад Айца святла сыходзіць, у Якога няма перамены, ані ценю зменнасці.

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

Нарадзіў Ён нас словам праўды з уласнай волі, каб былі мы першакамі Яго стварэнняў.

In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.

Ведайце, браты мае дарагія: хай кожны чалавек будзе хуткі да слухання, павольны да гутаркі ды няскоры да злосці.

This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;

Бо злосць чалавека не спрычыняецца да справядлівасці Божай.

for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.

Таму адкіньце ўсякі бруд і лішнюю злосць і з пакораю прымайце засеянае слова, каторае можа збавіць душы вашы.

Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.

Будзьце выканаўцамі слова, а не толькі слухачамі, якія саміх сябе ашукваюць.

But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.

Бо калі хто толькі слухае слова, а не выконвае яго, ён падобны да чалавека, які аглядае прыроджанае аблічча сваё ў люстэрку;

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror;

бо ён паглядзеў на сябе, і адышоўся, і зараз забыўся, якім ён быў.

for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.

Хто ж пранікне ў дасканалы закон свабоды і вытрывае ў ім, той станецца не слухачом, які забываецца, але выканаўцам справы, і шчасны будзе ў сваёй дзейнасці.

But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.

Калі сярод вас хто думае, што ён пабожны, а не трымае языка свайго, ашукваючы сэрца сваё, таго пабожнасць пустая.

If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless.

Пабожнасць праўдзівая і беззаганная перад Богам і Айцом вось якая: апекавацца над сіротамі і ўдовамі, дапамагаючы ў іх бедах, ды ўсцерагчыся беззаганным ад гэтага свету.

Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
