The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth.

Стары, любаснаму Гаю, якога я люблю шчыра.

Beloved, I desire that in all things thou shouldest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers.

Любасны! жадаю і малюся, каб табе быць здаровым і ішло спрыяльна ўва ўсім (тваім служэньні Богу), як ідзе спрыяльна душы тваёй.

For I rejoiced exceedingly when [the] brethren came and bore testimony to thy [holding fast the] truth, even as thou walkest in truth.

Бо я вельмі ўзра́даваўся, як прыйшлі браты і засьведчылі тваю праўду, як ты ходзіш у Праўдзе.

I have no greater joy than these things that I hear of my children walking in the truth.

Ня маю большай радасьці, як чуць пра дзяцей маіх, што ходзяць у Праўдзе.

Beloved, thou doest faithfully [in] whatever thou mayest have wrought towards the brethren and that strangers,

Любасны! ты робіш правільна (у тым), што (ты) робіш для братоў і для гасьцей.

(who have witnessed of thy love before [the] assembly,) in setting forward whom on their journey worthily of God, thou wilt do well;

Яны засьведчылі перад царквой пра тваю любоў. Ты добра зробіш, калі адправіш іх, як годна (перад) Богам,

for for the name have they gone forth, taking nothing of those of the nations.

бо яны выйшлі (у дарогу) і дзеля Імені (Ягонага) нічога ня ўзяўшы ад паганаў.

We therefore ought to receive such, that we may be fellow-workers with the truth.

Дык мы павíнны прыма́ць гэтакіх, каб быць супрацоўнікамі Праўды.

I wrote something to the assembly; but Diotrephes, who loves to have the first place among them, receives us not.

Я напісаў царкве, але Дыятрэф, што любіць у іх быць першым, ня прызнае нас.

For this reason, if I come, I will bring to remembrance his works which he does, babbling against us with wicked words; and not content with these, neither does he himself receive the brethren; and those who would he prevents, and casts [them] out of the assembly.

Пагэтаму, калі я прыйду, напомню ягоныя ўчынкі, якія ён робіць, зьняважаючы нас злымі словамі і ня здавальняючыся гэтым, ён да таго ж ня прымае братоў і забараняе тым, хто жадае (прыняць), ды із царквы выганяе.

Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He that does good is of God. He that does evil has not seen God.

Любасны! ня пасьледуй злу, але дабру. Той, хто робіць дабро, ён ёсьць ад Бога, але той, хто робіць зло, ня бачыў Бога.

Demetrius has witness borne to him by all, and by the truth itself; and we also bear witness, and thou knowest that our witness is true.

Пра Зьмітра засьведчана ўсімі і самой праўдаю; і мы сьведчым, і вы ведаеце, што сьведчаньне нашае праўдзівае.

I had many things to write to thee, but I will not with ink and pen write to thee;

Шмат меў я пісаць; але ня хачу пісаць да цябе чарніламі і пяром,

but I hope soon to see thee, and we will speak mouth to mouth. [15] Peace [be] to thee. The friends greet thee. Greet the friends by name.

але спадзяюся хутка ўбачыць цябе і гаварыць з вуснаў да вуснаў. Мір табе! Вітаюць цябе сябры; прывітай сяброў паіменна.
