And there was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite.

И҆ бы́сть человѣ́къ ѿ а҆рмаѳе́мъ сїфы̀, ѿ горы̀ є҆фре́мли, и҆ и҆́мѧ є҆мѹ̀ є҆лкана̀ сы́нъ ї҆еремїи́ль, сы́на и҆лі́ина, сы́на ѳоке́лѧ въ насі́вѣ ѿ а҆рмаѳе́ма ѿ горы̀ є҆фре́мли:

And he had two wives: the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah; and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

и҆ семѹ̀ двѣ̀ жєны̀ (бы́ша): и҆́мѧ є҆ди́нѣй а҆́нна и҆ и҆́мѧ вторѣ́й фенна́на: и҆ бѧ́хѹ фенна́нѣ дѣ́ти, а҆́ннѣ же не бѧ́ше ѻ҆троча́те.

And this man went up out of his city from year to year to worship and to sacrifice to Jehovah of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of Jehovah, were there.

И҆ восхожда́ше человѣ́къ ѿ днѐ до днѐ и҆з̾ гра́да своегѡ̀ а҆рмаѳе́ма покланѧ́тисѧ и҆ жре́ти гд҇ѹ бг҃ѹ саваѡ́ѳѹ въ силѡ́мъ. И҆ та́мѡ бѣ̀ и҆лі́й и҆ два̀ сы҄на є҆гѡ̀ ѻ҆фнї̀ и҆ фїнее́съ, жерцы̀ гд҇ни.

And it came to pass on the day that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and her daughters portions;

И҆ бы́сть де́нь, и҆ пожрѐ є҆лкана̀ и҆ дадѐ фенна́нѣ женѣ̀ свое́й и҆ сынѡ́мъ є҆ѧ̀ и҆ дще́рємъ є҆ѧ̀ ча҄сти:

but to Hannah he used to give a double portion, for he loved Hannah; but Jehovah had shut up her womb.

а҆́ннѣ же дадѐ ча́сть є҆ди́нѹ, ѩ҆́кѡ не бѣ̀ є҆́й ча҄да, ѻ҆ба́че а҆́ннѹ люблѧ́ше є҆лкана̀ па́че фенна́ны. И҆ гд҇ь затворѝ ложесна̀ є҆ѧ̀:

And her adversary provoked her much also, to make her fret, because Jehovah had shut up her womb.

зане́же не дадѐ є҆́й гд҇ь ча́да по ско́рби є҆ѧ̀ и҆ по сѣ́тованїю ѡ҆скорбле́нїѧ є҆ѧ̀, и҆ сѣ́товаше сегѡ̀ ра́ди, ѩ҆́кѡ затворѝ гд҇ь ѹ҆тро́бѹ є҆ѧ̀ не да́ти є҆́й ча́да.

And [as] he did so year by year, as often as she went up to the house of Jehovah, she provoked her thus; and she wept and did not eat.

Та́кѡ творѧ́ше ѿ го́да до го́да, внегда̀ приходи́ти є҆́й въ до́мъ гд҇ень: (ѹ҆корѧ́ше є҆ѧ̀ та́кѡ,) и҆ сѣ́товаше, и҆ пла́каше, и҆ не ѩ҆дѧ́ше.

And Elkanah her husband said to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? Am not I better to thee than ten sons?

И҆ речѐ є҆́й є҆лкана̀ мѹ́жъ є҆ѧ̀: а҆́нна. И҆ речѐ є҆мѹ̀: сѐ, а҆́зъ, го́споди. И҆ речѐ є҆́й: что́ ти є҆́сть, ѩ҆́кѡ пла́чешисѧ; и҆ почто̀ не ѩ҆́си; и҆ почто̀ бїе́ши се́рдце твоѐ; нѣ́смь ли а҆́зъ тебѣ̀ добрѣ́е па́че десѧтѝ ча҄дъ;

And Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk; (now Eli the priest sat upon the seat by the door-post of the temple of Jehovah;)

И҆ воста́вши а҆́нна по ѩ҆де́нїи и҆́хъ въ силѡ́мѣ, и҆ ста̀ пред̾ гд҇емъ. И҆лі́й же жре́цъ сѣдѧ́ше на престо́лѣ, при пра́зѣ две́ри хра́ма гд҇нѧ.

and she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to Jehovah, and wept much.

И҆ та̀ ѹ҆миле́нна дѹше́ю, и҆ помоли́сѧ гд҇ѹ и҆ пла́чѹщи пропла́ка,

And she vowed a vow, and said, O Jehovah of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thy handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thy handmaid, but wilt give unto thy handmaid a man child, then I will give him to Jehovah all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

и҆ ѡ҆бѣща̀ ѡ҆бѣ́тъ гд҇ѹ, глаго́лющи: а҆дѡнаї̀ гд҇и є҆лѡї̀ саваѡ́ѳъ, а҆́ще призира́ѧ при́зриши на смире́нїе рабы̀ твоеѧ̀ и҆ помѧне́ши мѧ̀, и҆ да́си рабѣ̀ твое́й сѣ́мѧ мѹ́жеско, то̀ да́мъ є҆̀ пред̾ тобо́ю въ да́ръ до днѐ сме́рти є҆гѡ̀: и҆ вїна̀ и҆ пїѧ́нственнагѡ не и҆спїе́тъ, и҆ желѣ́зо не взы́детъ на главѹ̀ є҆гѡ̀.

And it came to pass as she continued praying before Jehovah, that Eli marked her mouth.

И҆ бы́сть є҆гда̀ ѹ҆мно́жи молѧ́щисѧ пред̾ гд҇емъ, и҆лі́й же жре́цъ смотрѧ́ше на ѹ҆ста̀ є҆ѧ̀.

Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard; and Eli thought she was drunken.

И҆ та̀ глаго́лаше въ се́рдцы свое́мъ, то́кмѡ ѹ҆стнѣ̀ є҆ѧ̀ двиза́стѣсѧ, а҆ гла́съ є҆ѧ̀ не слы́шашесѧ: и҆ мнѧ́ше ю҆̀ и҆лі́й пїѧ́нѹ сѹ́щѹ.

And Eli said to her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.

И҆ речѐ є҆́й и҆лі́й: доко́лѣ пїѧ́на бѹ́деши; ѿимѝ вїно̀ твоѐ и҆ и҆дѝ ѿ мѣ́ста гд҇нѧ.

And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before Jehovah.

И҆ ѿвѣща̀ а҆́нна и҆ речѐ: нѝ, го́споди: жена̀ въ же́стокъ де́нь а҆́зъ є҆́смь, вїна̀ и҆ пїѧ́нства не пи́хъ, но и҆злива́ю пред̾ гд҇емъ дѹ́шѹ мою̀:

Take not thy handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my grief and provocation have I spoken hitherto.

не да́ждь рабы̀ твоеѧ̀ во дще́рь поги́бели, ѩ҆́кѡ ѿ мно́жества глѹмле́нїѧ моегѡ̀ и҆ ѿ мно́жества сѣ́тованїѧ моегѡ̀ и҆ста́ѧхъ да́же досе́лѣ.

And Eli answered and said, Go in peace; and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition which thou hast asked of him.

И҆ ѿвѣща̀ и҆лі́й и҆ речѐ къ не́й: и҆дѝ съ ми́ромъ, бг҃ъ ї҆и҃левъ да да́стъ тѝ всѐ проше́нїе твоѐ, є҆́же проси́ла є҆сѝ ѿ негѡ̀.

And she said, Let thy bondwoman find grace in thy sight. And the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more [as before].

И҆ речѐ а҆́нна: ѡ҆брѣ́те раба̀ твоѧ̀ благода́ть пред̾ ѻ҆чи́ма твои́ма. И҆ и҆́де жена̀ въ пѹ́ть сво́й, и҆ вни́де во ѻ҆би́тель свою̀, и҆ ѩ҆дѐ съ мѹ́жемъ свои́мъ и҆ пѝ, и҆ лицѐ є҆ѧ̀ не и҆спадѐ ктомѹ̀.

And they rose up early in the morning and worshipped before Jehovah, and returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and Jehovah remembered her.

И҆ ѹ҆́треневаша заѹ́тра, и҆ поклони́шасѧ гд҇ѹ, и҆ и҆до́ша пѹте́мъ свои́мъ. И҆ вни́де є҆лкана̀ въ до́мъ сво́й во а҆рмаѳе́мъ и҆ позна̀ є҆лкана̀ женѹ̀ свою̀ а҆́ннѹ: и҆ помѧнѐ ю҆̀ гд҇ь, и҆ зача́тъ.

And it came to pass when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bore a son, and called his name Samuel, [saying,] Because I have asked him of Jehovah.

И҆ бы́сть во вре́мѧ дні́й, и҆ родѝ а҆́нна сы́на и҆ наречѐ и҆́мѧ є҆мѹ̀ самѹи́лъ: и҆ речѐ: ѩ҆́кѡ ѿ гд҇а бг҃а саваѡ́ѳа и҆спроси́хъ є҆го̀.

And Elkanah her husband, and all his house, went up to sacrifice to Jehovah the yearly sacrifice and his vow.

И҆ взы́де человѣ́къ є҆лкана̀ и҆ ве́сь до́мъ є҆гѡ̀ въ силѡ́мъ пожре́ти же́ртвѹ дні́й и҆ ѡ҆бѣ́ты своѧ҄ и҆ всѧ҄ десѧти҄ны землѝ своеѧ̀.

But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, [I will wait] until the child is weaned; then will I bring him, that he may appear before Jehovah, and there abide for ever.

А҆́нна же не взы́де съ ни́мъ, ѩ҆́кѡ речѐ мѹ́жеви своемѹ̀: до́ндеже взы́детъ ѻ҆троча̀, и҆ а҆́ще ѿдою̀ є҆̀, тогда̀ ѩ҆ви́тсѧ лицѹ̀ гд҇ню и҆ пребѹ́детъ та́мѡ до вѣ́ка.

And Elkanah her husband said to her, Do what is good in thy sight: abide until thou hast weaned him; only, may Jehovah fulfil his word. And the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him.

И҆ речѐ є҆́й є҆лкана̀ мѹ́жъ є҆ѧ̀: творѝ благо́е пред̾ ѻ҆чи́ма твои́ма, сѣдѝ до́ндеже ѿдои́ши є҆̀: но да ѹ҆тверди́тъ гд҇ь (сло́во твоѐ), и҆зше́дшее и҆з̾ ѹ҆́стъ твои́хъ. И҆ сѣ́де жена̀, и҆ млеко́мъ пита́ше сы́на своего̀, до́ндеже ѿдоѝ є҆го̀.

And she took him up with her when she had weaned him, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a flask of wine, and brought him to the house of Jehovah to Shiloh; and the boy was young.

И҆ взы́де съ ни́мъ въ силѡ́мъ, є҆гда̀ ѿдоѝ є҆го̀, съ телце́мъ трилѣ́тнымъ и҆ съ хлѣ҄бы и҆ со є҆́фї мѹкѝ пшени́чны и҆ мѣ́хомъ вїна̀: и҆ внидо́ша въ до́мъ гд҇ень въ силѡ́мъ, и҆ ѻ҆троча̀ съ ни́ми.

And they slaughtered the bullock, and brought the boy to Eli.

И҆ приведо́ша є҆̀ пред̾ гд҇а: и҆ закла̀ ѻ҆те́цъ є҆гѡ̀ же́ртвѹ, ю҆́же творѧ́ше ѿ дні́й на дни҄ гд҇еви: и҆ приведо́ша ѻ҆троча̀, и҆ закла̀ телца̀. И҆ приведѐ а҆́нна ма́ти ѻ҆троча̀ ко и҆лі́ю

And she said, Oh my lord, [as] thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here to pray to Jehovah.

и҆ речѐ: во мнѣ̀, гд҇и, да живе́тъ дѹша̀ твоѧ̀, господи́не мо́й, а҆́зъ жена̀ стоѧ́вшаѧ пред̾ тобо́ю, ѡ҆ се́мъ помоли́тисѧ гд҇ѹ:

For this boy I prayed; and Jehovah has granted me my petition which I asked of him.

ѡ҆ ѻ҆троча́ти се́мъ моли́хсѧ, и҆ даде́ ми гд҇ь проше́нїе моѐ, є҆́же проси́хъ ѹ҆ негѡ̀:

And also I have lent him to Jehovah: all the days that he lives, he is lent to Jehovah. And he worshipped Jehovah there.

и҆ а҆́зъ ѿдаю̀ є҆̀ гд҇еви во всѧ҄ дни҄ живота̀ є҆гѡ̀ на слѹже́нїе гд҇еви. И҆ поклони́сѧ та́мѡ гд҇еви.
