В первой книге я написал тебе, Феофил, обо всем, что делал и чему учил Иисус с самого начала

The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

и до того дня, когда Он по действию Святого Духа дал повеления апостолам, которых Сам прежде избрал, и был вознесен на небо.

Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

Перед тем Он явился им, живой, уже после всех страданий, и тому было много свидетельств. Сорок дней Он являлся им и говорил с ними о Царстве Божьем.

To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

За совместной трапезой Он объявил им, чтобы не покидали Иерусалима, а ждали, что Отец исполнит обещанное:— Вы ведь слышали об этом от Меня:

And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

Иоанн крестил, омывая водой, а вы через несколько дней будете омыты Святым Духом.

For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

А они — те, кто там собрался — стали спрашивать Его:— Господи, не настало ли время Тебе восстановить в Израиле царство?

When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

Он им ответил:— Не вам знать времена и сроки, их определил Своей властью Отец.

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

Но вы обретете силу, когда на вас сойдет Святой Дух, и станете свидетельствовать обо Мне в Иерусалиме, по всей Иудее и Самарии и даже до края Земли.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Так сказал Иисус, и прямо у них на глазах поднялся ввысь, и облако скрыло Его от их взоров.

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

Так они стояли и смотрели на небо, пока Он возносился — и тут рядом с ними появились двое в белых облачениях.

And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

Они сказали:— Галилеяне! Что вы стоите и смотрите на небо? Иисус — Он был взят от вас на небо, и каким вы видели Его небесное восхождение, таким же точно образом Он и вернется.

Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

С той горы (она называлась Елеонской и находилась вблизи от Иерусалима, так что можно было дойти до нее и в субботний день) они вернулись в Иерусалим.

Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.

Они вошли в ту самую верхнюю комнату, где обычно и находились: Петр, Иоанн, Иаков, Андрей, Филипп, Фома, Варфоломей и Матфей, Иаков (сын Алфея), Симон по прозванию Зелот и Иуда (сын Иакова).

And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.

Все они непрестанно и единодушно молились; были там и женщины, в том числе Мария, мать Иисуса, вместе с Его братьями.

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

В один из тех дней Петр поднялся среди собратьев (а там собралось человек сто двадцать) и сказал:

And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

— Братья! Исполнилось то, что Святой Дух устами Давида заранее возвестил в Писании об Иуде: он указал дорогу тем, кто схватил Иисуса.

Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

Он был одним из нас и участвовал в нашем общем служении.

For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

А на деньги, полученные за неправое дело, он купил поле. Но когда он рухнул на землю, лопнуло его брюхо и внутренности вывалились,

Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

это стало известно всем жителям Иерусалима, и тот участок они назвали Акелдама (на местном языке это означает «кровавый участок»).

And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.

Ведь и в книге псалмов написано: «пусть его жилище опустеет, пусть никто не селится в нем» и «его звание пусть переймет иной».

For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.

Это должен быть один из нас, кто был вместе с нами всё то время, что Господь Иисус провел среди нас,

Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

со времени, как Его крестил Иоанн, и до дня, когда Он был от нас вознесен — и такой человек станет вместе с нами свидетелем Его воскресения.

Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

Вывели вперед двоих: Иосифа по прозванию Варсавва (еще его называли Юстом) и Матфия.

And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

И помолились:— Господи, Тебе открыты сердца всех людей, покажи, кого Ты избрал из этих двоих,

And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,

чтобы он принял апостольское служение вместо Иуды, который его оставил и отправился туда, где ему самое место.

That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

Бросили о них жребий, и он выпал на Матфия, который и был причислен к одиннадцати апостолам.

And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
