Вы подражайте мне, как я — Христу.

Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

Похвалю вас, что помните обо мне и сохраняете как предание то, что я передал вам.

Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

Но хочу, чтобы вы знали: всякому мужу глава — Христос, а глава жене — муж. Глава Христа — это Бог.

But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

Всякий муж, который молится или пророчествует с покрытой головой, позорит себя.

Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

И всякая жена, который молится и пророчествует с непокрытой головой, позорит себя — точно так же, как если бы она была обритой.

But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

Если уж жена не покрывает голову, то пусть обреет ее, а если позорно для нее обрить или состричь волосы, пусть покрывает их.

For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

Мужчина не должен покрывать голову, поскольку в нем явлены образ и слава Бога. А в жене — слава мужа,

For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

ведь не муж произошел от жены, но жена от мужа,

For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.

и не муж был создан для жены, но жена для мужа.

Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.

Потому жене подобает иметь на голове покрывало как знак своего подчинения, пусть хотя бы для ангелов.

For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

Впрочем, у Господа не бывает ни жена отдельно от мужа, ни муж отдельно от жены:

Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.

как женщина произошла от мужчины, так и мужчина рождается от женщины, и всё это от Бога.

For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.

Сами рассудите, подобает ли жене молиться Богу с непокрытой головой?

Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

Не учит ли нас сама природа, что для мужа отращивать волосы — бесчестье?

Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

Но если жена отращивает волосы, это для нее честь, и волосы даны ей как покрывало.

But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

А если кто любит поспорить, то другого обычая нет ни у нас, ни в других церквях Божьих.

But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

С этими объяснениями я покончил, и вот за что вас не похвалю — что от ваших собраний больше вреда, чем пользы.

Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.

Во-первых, я слышал, что на ваших церковных собраниях бывает, что все поврозь, чему я отчасти верю.

For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.

Да, среди вас должно быть место разногласиям, чтобы стало видно, кто из вас опытней.

For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

Но когда вы собираетесь за одним столом, никакая это не Господня трапеза:

When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.

каждый из вас принимается за собственную еду, и вот один остается голодным, а другой пьянствует.

For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.

Разве нет у вас своих домов, где можно есть и пить вволю? Что же вы позорите Божью церковь презрительным отношением к беднякам? Что же сказать вам? Похвалить вас? Нет, за это не похвалю!

What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.

Я принял это от Самого Господа и передал вам: в ночь перед тем, как Господь Иисус был предан, Он взял хлеб,

For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

с благословением его разломил и сказал: «Это тело Мое, отданное ради вас; делайте так и вы в воспоминание обо Мне».

And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

И точно так же взял чашу после трапезы со словами: «Эта чаша — Новый Завет, его знаменует пролитие Моей крови; делайте так всякий раз, когда будете пить в воспоминание обо Мне».

After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

И всякий раз, когда вы едите этот хлеб и пьете эту чашу, вы возвещаете смерть Господню — и так будет, пока Он не придет вновь.

For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

И кто станет вкушать этот хлеб и пить чашу Господню недостойно, будет виновен перед Телом и Кровью Господа.

Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

Пусть человек сначала испытает себя, и тогда вкушает от этого хлеба и пьет из этой чаши.

But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

Ведь если кто станет есть и пить, не признавая в этом хлебе Тела, будет есть и пить себе в осуждение.

For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

Оттого у вас так много больных и слабых, и умерло немало людей.

For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

Если бы мы сами судили себя, то избежали бы Божьего суда.

For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

Но и Господь своим приговором воспитывает нас, чтобы нам не быть окончательно осужденными вместе с этими миром.

But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

Так что, братья мои, когда сходитесь для трапезы, дожидайтесь друг друга,

Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.

а если кто голоден, пусть поест дома, чтобы вам не оказаться осужденными. Всё прочее устрою, когда приду.

And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
