Соломон стал могущественным царём, потому что Господь, его Бог, был с ним. Господь сделал Соломона великим царём.

And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.

Соломон обратился ко всему израильскому народу, а также и к начальникам над тысячами и сотнями, к судьям, ко всем вождям Израиля и ко всем главам семей.

Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers.

Затем Соломон и все люди, которые собрались вместе, пошли на высоту в Гаваоне. Там находился Божий шатёр собрания. Слуга Господа Моисей сделал этот шатёр, когда он и народ Израиля находились в пустыне.

So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.

Давид перенёс ковчег Соглашения из Кириаф-Иарима в Иерусалим, где он поставил новый шатёр для ковчега.

But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjathjearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.

Бронзовый алтарь, который сделал Веселиил, сын Урии, сын Хура, находился в Гаваоне перед священным шатром. Поэтому Соломон и все люди отправились в Гаваон, чтобы просить у Господа совета.

Moreover the brasen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the LORD: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.

Соломон поднялся к бронзовому алтарю перед Господом у шатра собрания и принёс на алтаре тысячу жертв всесожжения.

And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.

В ту ночь Бог пришёл к Соломону и сказал: «Соломон, проси у Меня всё, что ты хочешь».

In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.

Соломон сказал Богу: «Ты был очень добр к моему отцу Давиду. Ты сделал меня царём вместо него.

And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.

Теперь, Господи Боже, сдержи Своё обещание, данное моему отцу Давиду. Ты сделал меня царём многочисленного народа. Людей в нём так много, как пылинок на земле!

Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.

Дай же мне мудрость и знание, чтобы я мог вести этот народ правильным путём. Никто не может править этим великим народом без Твоей помощи!»

Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

Бог сказал Соломону: «Ты правильно рассуждаешь. Ты не просил себе долгой жизни, богатства, изобилия или славы. Ты не просил смерти своим врагам. Нет, ты не просил всего этого. Ты просил лишь мудрости и знания, чтобы принимать мудрые решения для Моего народа, над которым Я поставил тебя править.

And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

Поэтому Я дам тебе не только мудрость и знание, но также и богатство, изобилие и славу. Ни один царь, который жил до тебя, не имел столько богатства и славы. Более того, и в будущем ни один из царей не будет столько иметь».

Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

Соломон ушёл с места поклонения в Гаваоне перед шатром собрания и вернулся в Иерусалим, чтобы царствовать над Израилем.

Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.

Соломон начал собирать лошадей и колесницы для своего войска. У него было тысяча четыреста колесниц и двенадцать тысяч всадников. Соломон построил для них специальные города и разместил их там, а некоторые колесницы он держал у себя в Иерусалиме, где находился царский дворец.

And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

В Иерусалиме Соломон собрал столько золота и серебра, что они стали равноценны простым камням; он собрал так много кедрового дерева, что оно стало равноценно сикоморам с западного предгорья.

And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the vale for abundance.

Коней Соломону приводили из Египта и из Кувы. Купцы приобретали их в Куве и приводили в Израиль.

And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price.

Каждая колесница, доставляемая из Египта, стоила 600 шекелей серебра, а конь стоил 150 шекелей. Затем они продавали лошадей и колесницы всем хеттейским и арамейским царям.

And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.
