Ещё до начала существования мира было Слово. И Слово было с Богом, и Слово было Бог.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Тот, Кто был Словом, был с Богом с самого начала.

The same was in the beginning with God.

Всё было сотворено через Него и ничто не сотворено без Него.

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Жизнь была в Нём, и эта жизнь была Светом для людей.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Свет сияет во тьме, и тьма не погасила Его.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Был человек по имени Иоанн, посланный Богом.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

Он явился, чтобы свидетельствовать людям о Свете, чтобы все поверили через Него.

The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

Он сам не был Светом, но явился, чтобы свидетельствовать о Свете.

He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

Истинный свет, Который даёт свет каждому человеку, уже шествовал в мир.

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

Слово тогда уже было в мире. Мир был создан через Него, но мир не признал Его.

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

Он пришёл в мир, принадлежащий Ему, но Его собственный народ не принял Его.

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

Тем, однако, кто принял Его и поверил в Него, Он дал право стать детьми Божьими:

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

детьми, которые родились от Бога, но не естественным путём, по желанию людей или супружеской воле.

Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Слово стало человеком и поселилось среди нас. И мы увидели Его Божественное величие — величие единственного Сына у Отца. Слово было исполнено благодати и истины.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

О Нём свидетельствовал Иоанн, восклицая: «Вот Тот, о Ком я сказал: „Идущий за мной превосходит меня, потому что Он существовал до меня”».

John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

От Его полноты мы все получали одно благословение за другим.

And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

Закон был дан через Моисея, но благодать и истина пришли через Иисуса Христа.

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Никто из людей не видел Бога, кроме единственного Сына, Который Сам является Богом. Он показал нам, каков есть Бог. Он настолько близок к Отцу, что, когда мы видели Его, мы видели Бога.

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Вот что свидетельствовал Иоанн перед священниками и левитами, посланными к нему иерусалимскими предводителями иудеев, чтобы спросить: «Кто ты такой?»

And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

Иоанн сказал им открыто, не уклоняясь от ответа: «Я не Христос».

And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.

«Так кто же ты тогда? — спросили они. — Илия?» «Нет», — ответил он. «Может быть, ты — пророк, которого мы ждём?» — был следующий вопрос. Он ответил: «Нет».

And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.

Тогда они спросили: «Скажи нам, кто ты, чтобы мы смогли ответить тем, кто послал нас. Как ты себя называешь?»

Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

Иоанн ответил: «Я, как сказал пророк Исаия, „Голос, раздающийся в пустыне, восклицая: „Проложите Господу прямой путь!”»

He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

Эти люди были посланы фарисеями,

And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.

и они спросили Иоанна: «Если ты не Христос, не Илия и не пророк, то почему ты крестишь народ?»

And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?

Иоанн ответил им: «Я крещу народ водой, но среди вас есть Некто, неведомый вам:

John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;

Он-то и явится после меня. Я же недостоин даже быть рабом, который развязывает ремни Его сандалий».

He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

Всё это происходило в Вифании по другую сторону реки Иордан, где Иоанн крестил народ.

These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

На следующий день Иоанн увидел шедшего к нему Иисуса и сказал: «Смотрите, вот Агнец Божий, Который избавляет мир от греха.

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Он и есть Тот, о Ком я говорил, что вслед за мной придёт Человек, превосходящий меня, потому что Он был до меня.

This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.

Даже я не знал, кто Он, но я пришёл крестить народ водой, чтобы Христос стал известен Израилю».

And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

Иоанн свидетельствовал: «Я и сам не знал, кто был Христос. Но Тот, Кто послал меня крестить народ водой, сказал мне: „Ты увидишь, как Дух сойдёт и будет пребывать на Нём.

And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

Это и будет Тот, Кто станет крестить людей Святым Духом”. И я увидел, как Дух в образе голубя сошёл на Него с неба и пребывал на Нём.

And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

Я увидел это и свидетельствую о том, что Он и есть Сын Божий».

And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

На следующий день Иоанн снова был там, и с ним два его ученика.

Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;

Увидев проходившего мимо Иисуса, Иоанн сказал: «Смотрите, вот Агнец Божий!»

And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

Услышав эти слова, ученики пошли вслед за Иисусом.

And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

Иисус обернулся и, увидев следующих за Ним, спросил: «Чего вы хотите?» Ученики спросили Его: «Равви! Где Ты живёшь?» («Равви» в переводе означает «Учитель»).

Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?

«Пойдёмте, и увидите», — ответил Иисус. Было около четырёх часов дня. Они последовали за Иисусом и увидели, где Он живёт, и остались с Ним до вечера.

He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

Одного из тех двоих мужчин, которые слышали слова Иоанна и последовали за Иисусом, звали Андрей, он был братом Симона Петра.

One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.

Он тотчас же отыскал своего брата Симона и сказал ему: «Мы нашли Мессию!» — что означает «Христос».

He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

Андрей привёл Симона к Иисусу. Иисус посмотрел на него и сказал: «Ты — Симон, сын Ионы, ты будешь называться Кифа». «Кифа» означает «Пётр».

And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

На следующий день Иисус решил отправиться в Галилею. Он отыскал Филиппа и сказал ему: «Следуй за Мной».

The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

Филипп был из города Вифсаида, откуда были родом также Андрей и Пётр.

Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

Филипп нашёл Нафанаила и сказал ему: «Мы нашли Того, о Ком Моисей писал в Законе и о Ком писали пророки. Это — Иисус из Назарета, сын Иосифа».

Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

Нафанаил сказал ему: «Разве может что-нибудь хорошее быть из Назарета?» Филипп ответил: «Пойдём, и тогда ты сам увидишь!»

And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

Иисус увидел подходившего к нему Нафанаила и сказал: «Вот настоящий израильтянин, в котором нет лукавства».

Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

Нафанаил спросил: «Откуда Ты знаешь меня?» Иисус ответил: «Я видел тебя под фиговым деревом, перед тем как Филипп позвал тебя».

Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

Нафанаил сказал: «Учитель, Ты — Сын Божий, Царь Израиля».

Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

Иисус же ответил: «Ты поверил в Меня только потому, что Я сказал, что видел тебя под фиговым деревом? Но Ты увидишь много гораздо более удивительного, чем это!»

Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.

Затем Иисус добавил: «Истинно вам говорю, что вы увидите, как небо раскроется и Ангелы Божьи будут восходить и нисходить на Сына Человеческого».

And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
