Вначале, когда Бог сотворил небо и землю,

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

земля была гола и бесформенна. Земля покоилась под океанскими глубинами, и тьма скрывала океан, а над водами словно ураган носился Дух Божий.

The earth was without form, and void; and darkness [a]was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

И тогда Бог сказал: «Да будет свет!» — и воссиял свет.

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.

Бог увидел свет и был доволен увиденным. Затем Бог отделил свет от тьмы.

And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.

И назвал Он свет «днём», а тьму — «ночью». И был вечер, а потом настало утро. Это был день первый.

God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. [b]So the evening and the morning were the first day.

Тогда Бог сказал: «Да будет воздух, разделяющий воду посередине!»

Then God said, “Let there be a [c]firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”

И сотворил Бог воздух и разделил воду посередине. Часть вод была над воздухом, а часть — под воздухом.

Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so.

Бог назвал воздух небом. И был вечер, а потом настало утро. Это был день второй.

And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.

Тогда Бог сказал: «Пусть воды, которые под небом, сомкнутся, чтобы появилась суша». И стало так.

Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.

Бог назвал сушу землёй, а сомкнувшиеся воды назвал морями. И Бог был доволен увиденным.

And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

Затем Бог сказал: «Пусть на земле растут трава, злаки и фруктовые деревья. Фруктовые деревья будут давать плоды с семенами, и каждое растение будет приносить собственные семена согласно своему роду. Пусть эти растения будут произрастать на земле». Всё именно так и произошло.

Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so.

На земле росли трава, злаки и деревья, приносившие плоды с семенами. Каждое растение порождало собственные семена по своему подобию. И Бог был доволен увиденным.

And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

И был вечер, а потом настало утро. Это был день третий.

So the evening and the morning were the third day.

Тогда Бог сказал: «Да будут в небе светила. Они отделят дни от ночей, будут служить для особых знамений, а также указывать время для священных собраний. И ещё они будут служить для указания дней и лет.

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;

Эти светила будут в небе, чтобы светить на землю». И стало так.

and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.

И сотворил Бог два великих светила: одно светило большее, чтобы властвовать над днём, а другое меньшее, чтобы властвовать над ночью.

Then God made two great [d]lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.

и поместил все эти светила на небеса, чтобы они сияли над землёй.

God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth,

Он поместил эти светила на небеса, чтобы они властвовали над днём и над ночью и отделяли свет от тьмы. И Бог был доволен увиденным.

and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

И был вечер, а потом настало утро. Это был день четвёртый.

So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Затем Бог сказал: «Да заполнит воду множество живых существ, и пусть летают птицы в воздухе над землёй».

Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living [e]creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the [f]firmament of the heavens.”

Тогда Бог создал морских животных и всё живое, что обитает в море. Бог сотворил также и всякого рода птиц, летающих в небе. Бог увидел всё это и был доволен увиденным.

So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Бог благословил этих животных и велел им расплодиться и заполнить моря. Бог велел птицам на суше наплодить великое множество птенцов.

And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

И был вечер, а потом настало утро. Это был день пятый.

So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Тогда Бог сказал: «Да породит земля множество живых существ! Пусть будет множество разных животных: крупные животные и мелкие ползучие животные всякого рода, и пусть наплодят эти животные других животных». И стало так.

Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so.

И сотворил Бог всякого рода животных: диких зверей, домашних животных и всех мелких ползучих тварей. И Бог был доволен увиденным.

And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Тогда Бог сказал: «Теперь создадим людей по Нашему образу и подобию. Они будут властвовать над всеми рыбами в море и над всеми птицами в небе, будут властвовать над всеми крупными животными и над всеми мелкими тварями, ползающими по земле».

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over [g]all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

И сотворил Бог людей по Своему образу и подобию: мужчин и женщин.

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Затем Бог благословил их, сказав: «Обзаводитесь детьми, чтобы умножалось число людей. Заполните землю и владейте ею. Властвуйте над рыбами в море и над птицами в небе, властвуйте над всеми живыми существами, обитающими на земле».

Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that [h]moves on the earth.”

Бог сказал: «Я даю вам все злаки и все фруктовые деревья, которые приносят плоды с семенами. Зерно и плоды будут вашей пищей.

And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.

Я также даю животным все зелёные растения. Все животные на земле, все птицы в небе и все ползающие существа будут питаться ими». И стало так.

Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is [i]life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so.

Бог посмотрел на всё, созданное Им, и увидел, что всё это очень хорошо. Настал вечер, а потом пришло утро. Это был день шестой.

Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
