Приветствия от Павла, апостола Христа Иисуса, волей Божьей посланного проповедовать обещание жизни во Христе Иисусе,

This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus. I have been sent out to tell others about the life he has promised through faith in Christ Jesus.

к Тимофею, сыну возлюбленному. Благодать, милость и мир тебе от Бога Отца и от Христа Иисуса, Господа нашего.

I am writing to Timothy, my dear son. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace.

Я всегда возношу за тебя благодарность Богу, Которому служу, как делали предки мои, с чистой совестью. Я вспоминаю тебя постоянно в своих молитвах днём и ночью.

Timothy, I thank God for you — the God I serve with a clear conscience, just as my ancestors did. Night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.

Я жажду повидать тебя, вспоминая твои слёзы обо мне и исполняясь радости.

I long to see you again, for I remember your tears as we parted. And I will be filled with joy when we are together again.

Я вспоминаю твою искреннюю веру, ранее жившую в бабушке твоей Лоиде и твоей матери Евнике. Я убеждён, что она присуща и тебе.

I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you.

По этой причине я напоминаю тебе: продолжай разжигать пламя дара Божьего, полученного тобой, когда я возложил на тебя руки.

This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you.

Потому что Дух, которого Бог даровал нам, не заставляет нас испытывать страх, но он — источник силы, любви и самообладания.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Так не стыдись же быть свидетелем Господа нашего и не стыдись меня, находящегося в тюрьме ради Него, а воссоединись со мной в страдании за Благовестие, потому что Бог дал нам на то силы.

So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News.

Он спас нас и призвал к святой жизни не потому, что мы что-то сами совершили, но по Своему собственному намерению и благодати Своей, которую Он уже даровал нам во Христе Иисусе ещё до начала времени.

For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time — to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.

Однако лишь теперь Он показал её нам через пришествие Христа Иисуса, Спасителя нашего. Он уничтожил смерть и принёс жизнь и бессмертие через Благовестие.

And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News.

Я был избран проповедником для распространения Благовестия, апостолом и учителем.

And God chose me to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of this Good News.

По этой причине я принимаю также все эти страдания. Но я не стыжусь, потому что знаю, в Ком моя вера, и убеждён, что Он способен сохранить то, что было доверено мне до того Дня.

That is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to hima until the day of his return.

Прими же за образец то благотворное учение, которое ты услышал от меня, и следуй за ним с верой и любовью, которые мы имеем во Христе Иисусе.

Hold on to the pattern of wholesome teaching you learned from me — a pattern shaped by the faith and love that you have in Christ Jesus.

С помощью Духа Святого, живущего в нас, храни истину, доверенную тебе.

Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you.

Как известно тебе, все те, кто из Азии, покинули меня, в том числе Фигелл и Ермоген.

As you know, everyone from the province of Asia has deserted me — even Phygelus and Hermogenes.

Пусть будет милость Божья со всем семейством Онисифора, так как он многократно утешал меня и не стыдился того, что я в тюрьме.

May the Lord show special kindness to Onesiphorus and all his family because he often visited and encouraged me. He was never ashamed of me because I was in chains.

Наоборот, когда он прибыл в Рим, то усердно разыскивал меня, пока не нашёл.

When he came to Rome, he searched everywhere until he found me.

Так пусть же Господь пошлёт ему милость Божью в тот День. Ты сам знаешь, как усердно он служил мне, когда был в Ефесе.

May the Lord show him special kindness on the day of Christ’s return. And you know very well how helpful he was in Ephesus.
