In the first book, O Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach,

Первую книгу, Феофил, написал я обо всем, что Иисус делал и чему учил от начала

until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen.

до того дня, в который Он вознесся, дав Святым Духом повеления апостолам, которых Он избрал,

He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.

которым и явил Себя живым по страдании Своем, со многими верными доказательствами, в продолжение сорока дней являясь им и говоря о Царстве Божием.

And while stayinga with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me;

И, собрав их, Он повелел им: «Не отлучайтесь из Иерусалима, но ждите обещанного от Отца, о чем вы слышали от Меня,

for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized withb the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

ибо Иоанн крестил водой, а вы через несколько дней после сего будете крещены Духом Святым».

So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”

Поэтому они, собравшись, спрашивали Его, говоря: «Не в это ли время, Господи, восстанавливаешь Ты царство Израилю?»

He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.

Он же сказал им: «Не ваше дело знать времена или сроки, которые Отец положил в Своей власти,

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

но вы примете силу, когда сойдет на вас Дух Святой; и будете Мне свидетелями в Иерусалиме, и во всей Иудее, и Самарии, и даже до края земли».

And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.

Сказав это, Он поднялся в глазах их, и облако взяло Его из вида их.

And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes,

И когда они смотрели на небо, во время восхождения Его, вдруг предстали им два мужа в белой одежде

and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

и сказали: «Мужи галилейские! Что вы стоите и смотрите на небо? Сей Иисус, вознесшийся от вас на небо, придет таким же образом, как вы видели Его восходящим на небо».

Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey away.

Тогда они возвратились в Иерусалим с горы, называемой Елеон, которая находится близ Иерусалима, на расстоянии субботнего пути.

And when they had entered, they went up to the upper room, where they were staying, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot and Judas the son of James.

И, придя, взошли в горницу, где и пребывали: Петр и Иаков, Иоанн и Андрей, Филипп и Фома, Варфоломей и Матфей, Иаков Алфеев и Симон Зилот, и Иуда, брат Иакова.

All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.c

Все они единодушно пребывали в молитве с некоторыми женщинами и Марией, матерью Иисуса, и с братьями Его.

In those days Peter stood up among the brothers (the company of persons was in all about 120) and said,

И в те дни Петр, став посреди учеников, сказал

“Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke beforehand by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.

(было же собрание человек около ста двадцати): «Мужи братья! Надлежало исполниться тому, что в Писании предрек Дух Святой устами Давида об Иуде, бывшем вожде тех, которые взяли Иисуса.

For he was numbered among us and was allotted his share in this ministry.”

Он был сопричислен к нам и получил жребий служения этого;

(Now this man acquired a field with the reward of his wickedness, and falling headlongd he burst open in the middle and all his bowels gushed out.

но приобрел землю неправедной мздой, и, когда низринулся, расселось чрево его, и выпали все внутренности его.

And it became known to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the field was called in their own language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)

И это сделалось известно всем жителям Иерусалима, так что земля та на отечественном их наречии названа Акелдама, то есть „земля крови“.

“For it is written in the Book of Psalms, “‘May his camp become desolate, and let there be no one to dwell in it’; and “‘Let another take his office.’

В книге же псалмов написано: „Да будет двор его пуст, и да не будет живущего в нем“ и „Достоинство его да примет другой“.

So one of the men who have accompanied us during all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

Итак, надобно, чтобы один из тех, которые находились с нами во всё время, когда пребывал и общался с нами Господь Иисус, —

beginning from the baptism of John until the day when he was taken up from us — one of these men must become with us a witness to his resurrection.”

начиная от крещения Иоаннова до того дня, в который Он вознесся от нас, — был вместе с нами свидетелем воскресения Его».

And they put forward two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was also called Justus, and Matthias.

И поставили двоих: Иосифа, называемого Варсавой, который прозван Иустом, и Матфия;

And they prayed and said, “You, Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which one of these two you have chosen

и помолились и сказали: «Ты, Господи, Сердцеведец всех, покажи из этих двоих одного, которого Ты избрал

to take the place in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place.”

принять жребий этого служения и апостольства, от которого отпал Иуда, чтобы идти в свое место».

And they cast lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

И бросили о них жребий, и выпал жребий Матфию, и он сопричислен к одиннадцати апостолам.
