The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

Старэйшы — абранай гаспадарыні і яе дзецям, якіх я люблю ў праўдзе, і не толькі я сам, але і ўсе, што пазналі праўду,

For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

дзеля праўды, што захоўваецца ў нас ды якая застаецца з намі ў вечнасці.

Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

Ласка, міласэрнасць, супакой ад Бога Айца і ад Госпада Ісуса Хрыста, Сына Айца, хай будзе з намі ў праўдзе і любові.

I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

Я быў вельмі рады, што сярод дзяцей тваіх знайшоў такіх, што жывуць у праўдзе, як мы атрымалі пастанову ад Айца.

And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

І цяпер прашу цябе, гаспадарыня, не як новае прыказанне пішучы табе, але як тое, што мелі мы ад пачатку: каб мы любілі адзін аднаго.

And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

І тое ёсць любоў, каб мы жылі паводле пастаноў Яго; гэта тое прыказанне, якое вы чулі ад пачатку, каб вы жылі па ім.

For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Бо з’явілася на свеце многа зводнікаў, якія не вызнаюць, што Ісус Хрыстос прыйшоў у целе; гэткі ёсць зводнік і антыхрыст.

Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

Глядзіце самі на сябе, каб не страцілі вы таго, над чым мы папрацавалі, але каб атрымалі плату поўную.

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

Кожны, хто адступае ад навукі Хрыстовай і не трымаецца яе, не мае Бога; а хто трымаецца навукі, той мае і Айца, і Сына.

If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

Калі хто прыходзіць да вас і не прыносіць гэтай навукі, не прымайце яго ў дом і не вітайце яго.

For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Бо хто яго вітае, стаецца саўдзельнікам яго злачынства.

Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

Шмат маю я вам напісаць, але не хачу на паперы і атрамантам, бо спадзяюся, што да вас прыйду і з вамі пагавару з вуснаў у вусны, каб радасць наша была поўнаю. Амін!

The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.

Вітаюць цябе дзеці сястры тваёй абранай. Амін.
