The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

Старец — избранной госпоже и детям ее, которых я люблю по истине, и не только я, но и все, познавшие истину,

For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

ради истины, которая пребывает в нас и будет с нами вовек.

Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

Да будет с вами благодать, милость, мир от Бога Отца и от Господа Иисуса Христа, Сына Отчего, в истине и любви.

I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

Я весьма обрадовался, что нашел детей твоих, ходящих в истине, как мы получили заповедь от Отца.

And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

И ныне прошу тебя, госпожа, не как новую заповедь предписывая тебе, но ту, которую имеем от начала, чтобы мы любили друг друга.

And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

Любовь же состоит в том, чтобы мы поступали по заповедям Его. Это та заповедь, которую вы слышали от начала, чтобы поступали по ней.

For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Ибо многие обольстители вошли в мир, не исповедующие Иисуса Христа, пришедшего во плоти: такой человек — обольститель и антихрист.

Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

Наблюдайте за собой, чтобы нам не потерять того, над чем мы трудились, но чтобы получить полную награду.

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

Всякий, преступающий учение Христа и не пребывающий в нем, не имеет Бога; пребывающий в учении Христа имеет и Отца, и Сына.

If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

Кто приходит к вам и не приносит этого учения, того не принимайте в дом и не приветствуйте его.

For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Ибо приветствующий его участвует в злых делах его.

Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

Многое имею писать вам, но не хочу на бумаге чернилами, а надеюсь прийти к вам и говорить устами к устам, чтобы радость ваша была полна.

The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.

Приветствуют тебя дети сестры твоей избранной. Аминь.
