The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

Старец — Госпоже, избраннице Божьей, и ее чадам, которых люблю любовью истины, и не я только, но и все, кто знает истину.

For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

Ради истины, которая живет в нас и будет с нами вовеки:

Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

С истиной и любовью от Бога Отца и от Иисуса Христа, Сына Отчего — да будут с нами благодать, милость, мир!

I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

Мне было особенно приятно обнаружить среди твоих чад тех, кто отдает себя истине по заповеди, которую мы получили от Отца.

And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

В этом письме сегодня прошу тебя, госпожа, о заповеди, я бы сказал, не новой, о той, которая у нас с самого начала: любить друг друга.

And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

Любовь осуществляется в поступках по Его заповедям. Так с самого начала вам и было сказано в заповеди. Живите, как сказано.

For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

В мир идет много обманщиков, которые не признают пришествия Иисуса Христа во плоти. Много их. Каждый из них — обманщик и антихрист.

Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

Сделайте все, чтобы наш труд не пропал у вас даром. Свою награду вы должны получить сполна.

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

Кто приобрел «передовые» взгляды в отрыве от учения Христа — теряет Бога. А кто не отрывается от учения Христа, у того и Отец, и Сын на месте.

If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

Кто к вам приходит и приносит не это учение, того в дом не пускайте, не чествуйте.

For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Тот, кто чествует такого — участник его недобрых дел.

Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

Много есть у меня о чем сказать вам, но не на бумаге и не чернилами. Надеюсь прийти к вам и обо всем поведать из уст в уста, до конца прочувствовать у вас всю нашу радость.

The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.

Тебе передают привет чада твоей сестры, избранницы Божьей.
