Паўла, раб Божы, Апостал жа Ісуса Хрыста, па ве́ры выбраных Божых і пазнаньню праўды, што водле багабойнасьці,

Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness —

у надзе́і ве́чнага жыцьця, якую прырок Бог, Які не ашуківае, перад ве́чнымі часамі,

in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time,

а ў свой час зьявіў Сваё слова ў пропаведзі, што даве́рана мне́ па загаду Збавіцеля нашага, Бога, —

and which now at his appointed season he has brought to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior,

Ціту, праўдзіваму сыну па супольнай ве́ры: ласка, міласьць, мір ад Бога Айца і Госпада Ісуса Хрыста, Збавіцеля нашага.

To Titus, my true son in our common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

Я пакінуў цябе́ ў Крыце дзеля таго, каб ты дакончыў недакончанае і паставіў па ўсіх ме́стах старшых, як я табе́ загадаў:

The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appointa elders in every town, as I directed you.

калі хто беззаганны, муж аднае́ жонкі, дзяце́й ма́е ве́рных, недакара́ных за распусту або непакорлівасьць.

An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believeb and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.

Бо япіскап павінен быць беззаганны, як Божы Гаспадар дому, ня горды, не гняўлівы, ня п’яніца, не забіяка, не карысталюбны,

Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless — not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.

але гасьцінны, любячы дабро, разважны, справядлівы, багабойны, паўзьдзе́ржлівы,

Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.

каб дзяржаўся ве́рнага слова паводле навукі, каб мог і напамінаць у здаровай навуцы, і дакараць тых, што кажуць насупраць.

He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

Бо ёсьць многа і непакорных, і пустаслоўных, ашуканцаў, асабліва з абрэзаных,

For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group.

якім трэба затыкаць рот: яны цэлыя дамы́ разбураюць, навучаючы, чаго ня сьле́д, дзеля гане́бнае карысьці.

They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach — and that for the sake of dishonest gain.

Сказаў жа не́хта з іх, уласны іх прарок: Крыцяне заўсёды ілгуць, зьве́ры лютыя, чэравы ляны́я.

One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”c

Сьве́дчаньне гэтае праўдзівае. З гэтае прычыны дакарай іх строга, каб былі здаровыя ў ве́ры,

This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith

не зважаючы на юдэйскія казкі і загады людзе́й, што адварачаюцца ад праўды.

and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth.

Для чыстых усё чыста, а для апаганеных і няве́рных няма нічога чыстага, але апаганены і розум іх, і сумле́ньне.

To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

Яны кажуць, што ве́даюць Бога; а ўчынкамі выракаюцца, агідныя і непакорныя і няздольныя ні да якога добрага дзе́ла.

They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.
