Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who reside as aliens, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen

Пе́тръ, а҆п҇лъ ї҆и҃съ хр҇то́въ, и҆збра҄ннымъ прише́лцємъ разсѣ́ѧнїѧ по́нта, галаті́и, каппадокі́и, а҆сі́и и҆ вїѳѷні́и,

according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be yours in the fullest measure.

по прозрѣ́нїю бг҃а ѻ҆ц҃а̀, во ст҃ы́ни дх҃а, въ послѹша́нїе и҆ кропле́нїе кро́ве ї҆и҃съ хр҇то́вы: блгдть ва́мъ и҆ ми́ръ да ѹ҆мно́житсѧ.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

(За҄.) Блг҇ве́нъ бг҃ъ и҆ ѻ҆ц҃ъ гд҇а на́шегѡ ї҆и҃са хр҇та̀, и҆́же по мно́зей свое́й мл҇ти порожде́й на́съ во ѹ҆пова́нїе жи́во воскр҇нїемъ ї҆и҃съ хр҇то́вымъ ѿ ме́ртвыхъ,

to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,

въ наслѣ́дїе нетлѣ́нно и҆ нескве́рно и҆ неѹвѧда́емо, соблюде́но на нб҃сѣ́хъ ва́съ ра́ди,

who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

и҆̀же си́лою бж҃їею соблюда́еми є҆стѐ чрез̾ вѣ́рѹ, во сп҇нїе гото́вое ѩ҆ви́тисѧ во вре́мѧ послѣ́днее.

In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials,

Ѡ҆ не́мже ра́дѹйтесѧ, ма́лѡ нн҃ѣ, а҆́ще лѣ́по є҆́сть, приско́рбни бы́вше въ разли́чныхъ напа́стѣхъ:

so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

да и҆скѹше́нїе ва́шеѧ вѣ́ры многочестнѣ́йше зла́та ги́бнѹща, ѻ҆гне́мъ же и҆скѹше́на, ѡ҆брѧ́щетсѧ въ похвалѹ̀ и҆ че́сть и҆ сла́вѹ, во ѿкрове́нїи ї҆и҃съ хр҇то́вѣ,

and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,

є҆го́же не ви́дѣвше лю́бите, (и҆) на него́же нн҃ѣ не зрѧ́ще, вѣ́рѹюще же, ра́дѹетесѧ ра́достїю неизглаго́ланною и҆ просла́вленною,

obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.

прїе́млюще кончи́нѹ вѣ́рѣ ва́шей, сп҇нїе дѹша́мъ:

As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries,

ѡ҆ не́мже сп҇нїи взыска́ша и҆ и҆спыта́ша про҇ро́цы, и҆̀же ѡ҆ ва́шей блгдти прореко́ша,

seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.

и҆спыта́юще, въ каково̀ и҆лѝ въ ко́е вре́мѧ ѩ҆влѧ́ше въ ни́хъ дх҃ъ хр҇то́въ, пре́жде свидѣ́телствѹѧ ѡ҆ хр҇то́выхъ стр҇те́хъ, и҆ ѡ҆ сла́вахъ, ѩ҆̀же по си́хъ:

It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven — things into which angels long to look.

и҆̀мже ѿкры́сѧ, ѩ҆́кѡ не и҆̀мъ самѣ҄мъ, но на́мъ слѹжа́хѹ сїѧ҄, ѩ҆̀же нн҃ѣ возвѣсти́шасѧ ва́мъ благовѣствова́вшими ва́мъ дх҃омъ ст҃ы́мъ по́сланнымъ съ нб҃сѐ, въ нѧ́же жела́ютъ а҆́гг҃ли прини́кнѹти.

Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

(За҄.) Тѣ́мже, (возлю́бленнїи,) препоѧ́савше чре́сла помышле́нїѧ ва́шегѡ, трезвѧ́щесѧ, соверше́ннѣ ѹ҆пова́йте на приноси́мѹю ва́мъ блгдть ѿкрове́нїемъ ї҆и҃съ хр҇то́вымъ.

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance,

ѩ҆́кѡ ча҄да послѹша́нїѧ, не преѡбразѹ́ющесѧ пе́рвыми невѣ́дѣнїѧ ва́шего похотѣ҄нїи,

but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;

но по зва́вшемѹ вы̀ ст҃о́мѹ, и҆ са́ми ст҃и во все́мъ житїѝ бѹ́дите.

because it is written, “YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.”

Занѐ пи́сано є҆́сть: ст҃и бѹ́дите, ѩ҆́кѡ а҆́зъ ст҃ъ є҆́смь.

If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth;

И҆ а҆́ще ѻ҆ц҃а̀ называ́ете нелицемѣ́рнѡ сѹдѧ́ща комѹ́ждо по дѣ́лѹ, со стра́хомъ житїѧ̀ ва́шегѡ вре́мѧ жи́телствѹйте,

knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers,

вѣ́дѧще, ѩ҆́кѡ не и҆стлѣ́ннымъ сребро́мъ и҆лѝ зла́томъ и҆зба́вистесѧ ѿ сѹ́етнагѡ ва́шегѡ житїѧ̀ ѻ҆тцы҄ пре́даннагѡ,

but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.

но чт҇но́ю кро́вїю ѩ҆́кѡ а҆́гнца непоро́чна и҆ преч҇та хр҇та̀,

For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you

пред̾ѹвѣ́дѣна ѹ҆́бѡ пре́жде сложе́нїѧ мі́ра, ѩ҆́вльшасѧ же въ послѣ҄днѧѧ лѣ҄та ва́съ ра́ди,

who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

и҆̀же є҆гѡ̀ ра́ди вѣ́рѹете въ бг҃а воздви́гшаго є҆го̀ и҆з̾ ме́ртвыхъ и҆ сла́вѹ є҆мѹ̀ да́вша, ѩ҆́кѡ да вѣ́ра ва́ша и҆ ѹ҆пова́нїе бѹ́детъ на бг҃а.

Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart,

Дѹ́шы ва́шѧ ѡ҆чи́стивше въ послѹша́нїи и҆́стины дх҃омъ, въ братолю́бїе нелицемѣ́рно, ѿ чи́ста се́рдца дрѹ́гъ дрѹ́га люби́те прилѣ́жнѡ,

for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.

порожде́ни не ѿ сѣ́мене и҆стлѣ́нна, но неистлѣ́нна, сло́вомъ жива́гѡ бг҃а и҆ пребыва́юща во вѣ́ки.

For, “ALL FLESH IS LIKE GRASS, AND ALL ITS GLORY LIKE THE FLOWER OF GRASS. THE GRASS WITHERS, AND THE FLOWER FALLS OFF,

Занѐ всѧ́ка пло́ть ѩ҆́кѡ трава̀, и҆ всѧ́ка сла́ва человѣ́ча ѩ҆́кѡ цвѣ́тъ тра́вный: и҆́зсше трава̀, и҆ цвѣ́тъ є҆ѧ̀ ѿпадѐ:

BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER.” And this is the word which was preached to you.

гл҃го́лъ же гд҇нь пребыва́етъ во вѣ́ки. Се́ же є҆́сть гл҃го́лъ благовѣствова́нный въ ва́съ.
