James, a bond-servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes who are dispersed abroad: Greetings.

Двенадцати племенам иудеев, рассеянным среди народов. Вас приветствует Иаков, раб Бога и Господа Иисуса Христа.

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,

Братья, радуйтесь, когда вы сталкиваетесь с различного рода искушениями.

knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

Вы знаете, что испытание вашей веры вырабатывает терпение,

And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

а терпение должно иметь совершенное действие, чтобы вы были совершенными и цельными, без всяких недостатков.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Если кому-то из вас недостает мудрости, пусть просит у Бога, который щедро, не упрекая, наделяет ею всех — и ему будет дано.

But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.

Но тот, кто просит, должен верить нисколько не сомневаясь, потому что сомневающийся похож на морскую волну, носимую и разбиваемую ветром.

For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,

Пусть такой человек не рассчитывает получить что-либо от Господа.

being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Это человек с раздвоенными мыслями и не уверенный в том, что он делает.

But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position;

Униженный брат на самом деле может хвалиться своим высоким положением.

and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away.

A тот, кто богат, может хвалиться своим унижением, потому что он исчезнет, как полевой цвет.

For the sun rises with a scorching wind and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so too the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away.

Восходит солнце и своим жаром сушит растение, его цветок опадает, и вся красота исчезает. Так же и богатый человек завянет среди своих суетных дел.

Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

Счастлив тот, кто переносит испытание. Когда он выдержит его, то получит венец жизни, который Бог обещал всем, кто любит Его.

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.

Когда вас постигает искушение, не говорите: "Это Бог меня искушает". Бог сам не может быть искушен злом и не искушает никого.

But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.

Каждого человека искушают его же собственные желания, они увлекают и соблазняют его.

Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.

Затем желание зачинает и порождает грех, а совершённый грех порождает смерть.

Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.

Смотрите, любимые мои братья, чтобы вам не оказаться обманутыми.

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

Все добрые и совершенные дары исходят свыше, от Отца небесного света, у которого нет изменения и ни тени перемены.

In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.

Он сам по своей воле родил нас словом истины, чтобы нам быть первыми плодами среди Его созданий.

This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;

Любимые мои братья, поймите: пусть каждый будет склонен скорее слушать, чем говорить или проявлять гнев.

for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.

В гневе человек не делает угодного Богу.

Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.

Поэтому оставьте всякую нечистоту и остаток злобы и примите со смирением насаждаемое слово, которое имеет силу спасти ваши души.

But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.

При этом будьте не только слушателями слова, но и исполнителями его, иначе вы просто обманываете себя.

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror;

Кто слушает слово, но не исполняет, тот похож на человека, который смотрит в зеркало:

for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.

он посмотрел на себя и отошел, и сразу забыл, как он выглядит.

But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.

Но человек, который вникает в совершенный закон, закон свободы, и поступает согласно ему, не забывая о том, что слышал, будет благословен в своих делах.

If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless.

Кто считает себя благочестивым, но не может управлять своим языком, тот обманывает самого себя, и благочестие такого человека тщетно.

Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

Чистое и непорочное благочестие перед Богом и Отцом заключается в том, чтобы помогать сиротам и вдовам в их нуждах и хранить себя чистым от этого мира.
