Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness —

Павел, раб Божы і Апостал Ісуса Хрыста паводле веры выбраных Божых і спазнання ісціны, якая згодна з набожнасцю,

in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time,

у надзеі вечнага жыцця, якое Бог, што не можа лгаць, абяцаў перад вечнымі часамі,

and which now at his appointed season he has brought to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior,

а ў свой час аб’явіў Сваё Слова ў пропаведзі, якая была даручана мне паводле загаду нашага Збаўцы Бога, —

To Titus, my true son in our common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

Ціту, сапраўднаму сыну ў супольнай веры: Ласка [, міласць] і мір ад Бога Бацькі і [Госпада] Ісуса Хрыста, нашага Збаўцы.

The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appointa elders in every town, as I directed you.

Дзеля гэтага я пакінуў цябе на Крыце, каб ты ўпарадкаваў, што засталося неўпарадкаванае, і паставіў у кожным горадзе старэйшын, як я табе загадаў:

An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believeb and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.

калі хто беззаганны, муж адной жонкі, мае дзяцей, якія веруюць, не абвінавачваюцца ў распусце ці ў непаслухмянасці.

Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless — not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.

Бо епіскап павінен быць беззаганны, як Божы домакіраўнік, не самазадаволены, не гняўлівы, не прагавіты да віна, не задзірлівы, не хцівы,

Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.

а гасцінны, дабралюбны, разумны, справядлівы, набожны, устрыманы,

He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

які трымаецца вернага слова, згоднага з вучэннем, каб ён быў моцны і пераконваць у здаровым вучэнні і выкрываць тых, што выступаюць супроць.

For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group.

Бо ёсць многа непакорлівых, пустасловаў і ашуканцаў, асабліва з абрэзаных,

They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach — and that for the sake of dishonest gain.

якім трэба заціскаць рот, тым, якія разбураюць цэлыя дамы, вучачы таму, чаму не след, дзеля ганебнай карыслівасці.

One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”c

Адзін з іх саміх, іх уласны прарок, сказаў: «Крыцяне заўсёды лгуны, лютыя звяры, лянівыя абжоры».

This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith

Сведчанне гэта праўдзівае. З гэтай прычыны выкрывай іх рэзка, каб яны былі здаровыя ў веры,

and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth.

не слухалі іудзейскія байкі і запаведзі людзей, што адварочваюцца ад ісціны.

To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

Усё чыстае для чыстых; а для апаганеных і бязверных няма нічога чыстага, у іх апаганены і розум, і сумленне.

They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.

Яны сцвярджаюць, што ведаюць Бога, а сваімі ўчынкамі выракаюцца Яго, з’яўляючыся гнюснымі і непаслухмянымі і ні на які добры ўчынак няздатнымі.
