Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God’s elect, exiles scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia,

Петр, апостол Иисуса Христа — избранникам, рассеянным по провинциям, где они проживают: в Понте, Галатии, Каппадокии, Асии и Вифинии.

who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to be obedient to Jesus Christ and sprinkled with his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

Пусть умножатся среди вас благодать и мир от Бога Отца! Он познал вас с самого начала, освятил Духом, чтобы вы были Ему послушны, и окропил жертвенной кровью Иисуса Христа!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Благословен Бог и Отец Господа нашего Иисуса Христа! По великой своей милости Он, когда воскрес из мертвых Иисус Христос, и нас возродил к живой надежде,

and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,

чтобы мы получили удел, чуждый всякой скверны, неподверженный распаду и гибели. Он ожидает вас на небесах —

who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

а вас, если веруете, охраняет Божья сила, и спасение, которое вам уготовано, станет явным в последний час.

In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.

Радуйтесь этому, даже если сейчас и приходится вам некоторое время пострадать от разных искушений.

These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith — of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire — may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Зато после испытаний ваша вера окажется ценнее золота — ведь и его испытывают огнем, хотя оно не вечно! И когда явится Иисус Христос, вера принесет вам похвалу, славу и честь.

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,

Вы любите Его, хотя не видели прежде, и верите в Него, хотя и теперь не видите — так пусть будет ваша радость славной, ее не выразить словами.

for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Так вы приближаетесь к спасению ваших душ — в этом цель вашей веры.

Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care,

Об этом спасении старались разузнать пророки, они пророчествовали о благодати, которая вас ожидала.

trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow.

Их устами приносил свое свидетельство Христов Дух, и они пытались определить, к какому времени оно относится, как именно должен пострадать Христос и какая слава придет вслед за этим.

It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.

Им было открыто, что это служение доверено им не ради них самих, но ради вас. И теперь это ясно объявили вам те, кто научил вас Евангелию при содействии Духа Святого, посланного с неба — а ведь даже ангелы желали бы прикоснуться к этой тайне.

Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.

Так что соберитесь с мыслями, будьте трезвы и всю надежду возложите на благодать, которая будет вам дана, когда явится Иисус Христос.

As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.

Будьте как послушные дети, не поддавайтесь прежним прихотям, как во времена, когда вы этого не знали.

But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;

Тот, кто вас призвал — свят, и вы будьте святы во всех своих поступках, как и написано:

for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”a

«будьте святы, ибо Я свят».

Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear.

Вы зовете Отцом Бога, Который судит каждого по его делам, невзирая на лица — так странствуйте по этой временной жизни в трепетном почтении к Нему.

For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors,

Вы же знаете: от отцов вам досталась бренная жизнь, и от нее искупило вас не серебро и золото, которые не вечны,

but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.

но драгоценная кровь Христа — Агнца безупречного и непорочного.

He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.

Так было определено прежде сотворения мира, а произошло в последние времена при вашем участии.

Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

И вы в единении со Христом верны Богу, Который воскресил Его из мертвых и прославил, так что веру и надежду вы возлагаете на Бога.

Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.b

Будьте послушны истине и так очистите ваши души, стремитесь к непритворной братской любви, старайтесь любить друг друга от чистого сердца.

For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

Вы заново рождены для новой жизни, и ее породило не семя смертного человека, а бессмертное Слово неизменно Живого Бога.

For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall,

Ибо «все люди — трава, вся слава их — что цветы на траве. Увянет трава и цветок облетит,

but the word of the Lord endures forever.”c And this is the word that was preached to you.

а слово Божье сохранится вовеки». Вот какая благая весть вам возвещена!
