Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God in Corinth, together with all his holy people throughout Achaia:

Павел, волею Божиею апостол Иисуса Христа, и Тимофей, брат, — церкви Божией, находящейся в Коринфе, со всеми святыми по всей Ахаии:

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

благодать вам и мир от Бога, Отца нашего, и Господа Иисуса Христа.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,

Благословен Бог и Отец Господа нашего Иисуса Христа, Отец милосердия и Бог всякого утешения,

who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

утешающий нас во всякой скорби нашей, чтобы и мы могли утешать находящихся во всякой скорби тем утешением, которым Бог утешает нас самих!

For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.

Ибо по мере, как умножаются в нас страдания Христовы, умножается Христом и утешение наше.

If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.

Скорбим ли мы, скорбим для вашего утешения и спасения, которое совершается перенесением тех же страданий, какие и мы терпим.

And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

И надежда наша о вас тверда. Утешаемся ли, утешаемся для вашего утешения и спасения, зная, что вы участвуете как в страданиях наших, так и в утешении.

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters,a about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself.

Ибо мы не хотим оставить вас, братья, в неведении о скорби нашей, бывшей с нами в Асии, потому что мы отягчены были чрезмерно и сверх силы, так что не надеялись остаться в живых.

Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.

Но сами в себе имели приговор к смерти, для того чтобы надеяться не на самих себя, но на Бога, воскрешающего мертвых,

He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us,

Который избавил нас от столь близкой смерти и избавляет и на Которого надеемся, что и еще избавит

as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.

при содействии и вашей молитвы за нас, дабы за дарованное нам, по ходатайству многих, многие возблагодарили за нас.

Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, with integrityb and godly sincerity. We have done so, relying not on worldly wisdom but on God’s grace.

Ибо похвала наша эта есть свидетельство совести нашей, что мы в простоте и богоугодной искренности, не по плотской мудрости, но по благодати Божией, жили в мире, особенно же у вас.

For we do not write you anything you cannot read or understand. And I hope that,

И мы пишем вам не иное, как то, что вы читаете или разумеете и что, как надеюсь, до конца уразумеете,

as you have understood us in part, you will come to understand fully that you can boast of us just as we will boast of you in the day of the Lord Jesus.

так как вы отчасти и уразумели уже, что мы будем вашей похвалой, равно и вы — нашей, в день Господа нашего Иисуса Христа.

Because I was confident of this, I wanted to visit you first so that you might benefit twice.

И в этой уверенности я намеревался прийти к вам раньше, чтобы вы вторично получили благодать,

I wanted to visit you on my way to Macedonia and to come back to you from Macedonia, and then to have you send me on my way to Judea.

и через вас пройти в Македонию, из Македонии же опять прийти к вам; а вы проводили бы меня в Иудею.

Was I fickle when I intended to do this? Or do I make my plans in a worldly manner so that in the same breath I say both “Yes, yes” and “No, no”?

Имея такое намерение, легкомысленно ли я поступил? Или то, что я предпринимаю, по плоти предпринимаю, так что у меня то «да» — «да», то «нет» — «нет»?

But as surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not “Yes” and “No.”

Верен Бог, что слово наше к вам не было то «да», то «нет».

For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us — by me and Silasc and Timothy — was not “Yes” and “No,” but in him it has always been “Yes.”

Ибо Сын Божий, Иисус Христос, проповеданный у вас нами: мной, и Силуаном, и Тимофеем, — не был «да» и «нет», но в Нем было «да»,

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.

ибо все обетования Божии в Нем — «да» и в Нем — «аминь», — во славу Божию, через нас.

Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us,

Утверждающий же нас с вами во Христе и помазавший нас — Бог,

set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

Который и запечатлел нас и дал залог Духа в сердца наши.

I call God as my witness — and I stake my life on it — that it was in order to spare you that I did not return to Corinth.

Бога призываю в свидетели на душу мою, что, щадя вас, я до сих пор не приходил в Коринф;

Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy, because it is by faith you stand firm.

не потому будто мы берем власть над верой вашей, но мы содействуем радости вашей, ибо верой вы тверды.
