Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness —

Па́вел, раб Бо́жий, Апо́стол же Иису́са Христа́, по ве́ре и́збранных Бо́жиих и позна́нию и́стины, относя́щейся к благоче́стию,

in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time,

в наде́жде ве́чной жи́зни, кото́рую обеща́л неизме́нный в сло́ве Бог пре́жде вековы́х времён,

and which now at his appointed season he has brought to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior,

а в своё вре́мя яви́л Своё сло́во в про́поведи, вве́ренной мне по повеле́нию Спаси́теля на́шего, Бо́га, —

To Titus, my true son in our common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

Ти́ту, и́стинному сы́ну по о́бщей ве́ре: благода́ть, ми́лость и мир от Бо́га Отца́ и Го́спода Иису́са Христа́, Спаси́теля на́шего.

The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appointa elders in every town, as I directed you.

Для того́ я оста́вил тебя́ в Кри́те, что́бы ты доверши́л недоко́нченное и поста́вил по всем города́м пресви́теров, как я тебе́ прика́зывал:

An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believeb and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.

е́сли кто непоро́чен, муж одно́й жены́, дете́й име́ет ве́рных, не укоря́емых в распу́тстве и́ли непоко́рности.

Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless — not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.

И́бо епи́скоп до́лжен быть непоро́чен, как Бо́жий домострои́тель, не де́рзок, не гневли́в, не пья́ница, не би́йца, не корыстолю́бец,

Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.

но страннолюби́в, лю́бящий добро́, целому́дрен, справедли́в, благочести́в, возде́ржан,

He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

держа́щийся и́стинного сло́ва, согла́сного с уче́нием, что́бы он был силён и наставля́ть в здра́вом уче́нии, и проти́вящихся облича́ть.

For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group.

И́бо есть мно́го и непоко́рных, пустосло́вов и обма́нщиков, осо́бенно из обре́занных,

They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach — and that for the sake of dishonest gain.

каковы́м должно́ загражда́ть уста́: они́ развраща́ют це́лые домы́, уча́, чему́ не должно́, из посты́дной коры́сти.

One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”c

Из них же сами́х оди́н стихотво́рец сказа́л: «Критя́не всегда́ лжецы́, злы́е зве́ри, утро́бы лени́вые».

This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith

Свиде́тельство э́то справедли́во. По сей причи́не облича́й их стро́го, дабы́ они́ бы́ли здра́вы в ве́ре,

and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth.

не внима́я Иуде́йским ба́сням и постановле́ниям люде́й, отвраща́ющихся от и́стины.

To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

Для чи́стых всё чи́сто; а для осквернённых и неве́рных нет ничего́ чи́стого, но осквернены́ и ум их и со́весть.

They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.

Они́ говоря́т, что зна́ют Бо́га, а дела́ми отрека́ются, бу́дучи гну́сны и непоко́рны и не спосо́бны ни к како́му до́брому де́лу.
