Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the River Chebar, that the heavens were opened and I saw visions[a] of God.

На тридцатом году[1], в пятый день четвертого месяца, когда я был среди пленников у реки Кевар, небеса раскрылись, и было мне видение от Бога.

On the fifth day of the month, which was in the fifth year of King Jehoiachin’s captivity,

В пятый день месяца (шёл пятый год плена царя Иехонии)[2] [3]

the word of the Lord came expressly to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the [b]Chaldeans by the River Chebar; and the hand of the Lord was upon him there.

слово Господа было к священнику Иезекиилю, сыну Бузия, у реки Кевар в стране халдеев[4], и там на нём была рука Господня.

Then I looked, and behold, a whirlwind was coming out of the north, a great cloud with raging fire engulfing itself; and brightness was all around it and radiating out of its midst like the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

Я смотрел и видел смерч, который надвигался с севера: огромное облако со сверкающими молниями, окруженное сиянием. Посреди огня было нечто, подобное сияющему металлу.

Also from within it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man.

В огне были подобия четырех живых существ. Обличием они походили на людей,

Each one had four faces, and each one had four wings.

но у каждого из них было по четыре лица и четыре крыла.

Their [c]legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the soles of calves’ feet. They sparkled like the color of burnished bronze.

Ноги у них были прямыми, а ступни ног — как у теленка, и сверкали, как отполированная бронза.

The hands of a man were under their wings on their four sides; and each of the four had faces and wings.

Под крыльями на четырех их сторонах у них были человеческие руки. У всех их были лица и крылья,

Their wings touched one another. The creatures did not turn when they went, but each one went straight forward.

и крылья их соприкасались одно с другим. Каждое из них двигалось лицом вперед; передвигаясь, они не оборачивались.

As for the likeness of their faces, each had the face of a man; each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side, each of the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and each of the four had the face of an eagle.

Лица у них были такими: у каждого из четырех было человеческое лицо, на правой стороне у каждого было лицо льва, а на левой стороне — лицо быка; ещё у каждого из них было лицо орла.

Thus were their faces. Their wings stretched upward; two wings of each one touched one another, and two covered their bodies.

Такими были их лица. Крылья у них были простерты вверх; у каждого было по два крыла: одно касалось крыла другого существа по обеим сторонам, а два крыла закрывали тело.

And each one went straight forward; they went wherever the spirit wanted to go, and they did not turn when they went.

Каждое из них шло лицом вперед. Куда бы ни шёл дух[5], шли и они, не оборачиваясь на ходу.

As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches going back and forth among the living creatures. The fire was bright, and out of the fire went lightning.

Облик живых существ был подобен пламенеющим углям, подобен факелам. Огонь непрестанно перемещался посреди существ; он пламенел, и из него вырывалась молния.

And the living creatures ran back and forth, in appearance like a flash of lightning.

Существа быстро передвигались вперед и назад, подобно тому, как сверкает молния.

Now as I looked at the living creatures, behold, a wheel was on the earth beside each living creature with its four faces.

Я смотрел на живых существ и видел на земле колеса возле них, по одному на каждого из четырех[6].

The appearance of the wheels and their workings was like the color of beryl, and all four had the same likeness. The appearance of their workings was, as it were, a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

Колеса выглядели и были устроены следующим образом: они искрились, как хризолит, и все четыре были одинаковыми на вид; они выглядели так, словно колесо находилось в колесе.

When they moved, they went toward any one of four directions; they did not turn aside when they went.

Двигаясь, они могли направляться в любую из четырех сторон, куда были обращены существа; когда существа передвигались, колеса не поворачивались.

As for their rims, they were so high they were awesome; and their rims were full of eyes, all around the four of them.

Их ободья были высоки и страшны; ободья у всех четырех были кругом полны глаз.

When the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.

Когда живые существа двигались, двигались и колеса, располагавшиеся возле них; когда существа поднимались с земли, поднимались и колеса.

Wherever the spirit wanted to go, they went, because there the spirit went; and the wheels were lifted together with them, for the spirit of the [d]living creatures was in the wheels.

Куда бы ни шёл дух, шли и они; колеса поднимались с ними, потому что дух живых существ был в колесах.

When those went, these went; when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up together with them, for the spirit of the [e]living creatures was in the wheels.

Когда существа двигались, они тоже двигались; когда существа стояли, они тоже стояли, а когда существа поднимались с земли, колеса поднимались вместе с ними, потому что дух живых существ был в колесах.

The likeness of the [f]firmament above the heads of the [g]living creatures was like the color of an awesome crystal, stretched out over their heads.

Распростертое над головами живых существ было нечто, подобное своду, как вид искрящегося, изумительного кристалла.

And under the firmament their wings spread out straight, one toward another. Each one had two which covered one side, and each one had two which covered the other side of the body.

Под сводом их крылья были простерты одно к другому, и у каждого из них было по два крыла, которые закрывали тело.

When they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of many waters, like the voice of the Almighty, a tumult like the noise of an army; and when they stood still, they let down their wings.

Когда существа двигались, я слышал шум от их крыльев, который был подобен реву могучих вод, подобен голосу Всемогущего[7] или боевому кличу в воинском лагере. Останавливаясь, они опускали крылья.

A voice came from above the firmament that was over their heads; whenever they stood, they let down their wings.

И из-за свода над их головами раздавался голос; останавливаясь, они опускали крылья.

And above the firmament over their heads was the likeness of a throne, in appearance like a sapphire stone; on the likeness of the throne was a likeness with the appearance of a man high above it.

Над сводом, который был над их головами, было нечто, подобное престолу из сапфира[8], и словно бы на престоле восседал Некто, похожий на человека.

Also from the appearance of His waist and upward I saw, as it were, the color of amber with the appearance of fire all around within it; and from the appearance of His waist and downward I saw, as it were, the appearance of fire with brightness all around.

Я видел, что от пояса и выше Он был похож на сияющий металл, словно бы исполненный пламени, а ниже того места Он был похож на огонь; Его окружало сияние.

Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. Ezekiel Sent to Rebellious IsraelSo when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking.

Сияние вокруг Него было подобно радуге в облаках в дождливый день.
