Now it came to pass, in the days when the judges [a]ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem, Judah, went to [b]dwell in the country of Moab, he and his wife and his two sons.

В те дни, когда́ управля́ли су́дьи, случи́лся го́лод на земле́. И пошёл оди́н челове́к из Вифлее́ма Иуде́йского со свое́ю жено́ю и двумя́ сыновья́ми свои́ми жить на поля́х Моави́тских.

The name of the man was Elimelech, the name of his wife was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion — Ephrathites of Bethlehem, Judah. And they went to the country of Moab and remained there.

И́мя челове́ка того́ Елимеле́х, и́мя жены́ его́ Ноеми́нь, а имена́ двух сыно́в его́ Махло́н и Хилео́н; они́ бы́ли Ефрафя́не из Вифлее́ма Иуде́йского. И пришли́ они́ на поля́ Моави́тские и оста́лись там.

Then Elimelech, Naomi’s husband, died; and she was left, and her two sons.

И у́мер Елимеле́х, муж Ноеми́ни, и оста́лась она́ с двумя́ сыновья́ми свои́ми.

Now they took wives of the women of Moab: the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth. And they [c]dwelt there about ten years.

Они́ взя́ли себе́ жён из Моавитя́нок, и́мя одно́й О́рфа, а и́мя друго́й Руфь, и жи́ли там о́коло десяти́ лет.

Then both Mahlon and Chilion also died; so the woman survived her two sons and her husband.

Но пото́м и о́ба сы́на её, Махло́н и Хилео́н, у́мерли, и оста́лась та же́нщина по́сле обо́их свои́х сынове́й и по́сле му́жа своего́.

Then she arose with her daughters-in-law that she might return from the country of Moab, for she had heard in the country of Moab that the Lord had visited[d] His people by giving them bread.

И вста́ла она́ со сно́хами свои́ми и пошла́ обра́тно с поле́й Моави́тских, и́бо услы́шала на поля́х Моави́тских, что Бог посети́л наро́д Свой и дал им хлеб.

Therefore she went out from the place where she was, and her two daughters-in-law with her; and they went on the way to return to the land of Judah.

И вы́шла она́ из того́ ме́ста, в кото́ром жила́, и о́бе снохи́ её с не́ю. Когда́ они́ шли по доро́ге, возвраща́ясь в зе́млю Иуде́йскую,

And Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Go, return each to her mother’s house. The Lord deal kindly with you, as you have dealt with the dead and with me.

Ноеми́нь сказа́ла двум сно́хам свои́м: пойди́те, возврати́тесь ка́ждая в дом ма́тери свое́й; да сотвори́т Госпо́дь с ва́ми ми́лость, как вы поступа́ли с уме́ршими и со мно́ю!

The Lord grant that you may find rest, each in the house of her husband.” So she kissed them, and they lifted up their voices and wept.

да даст вам Госпо́дь, что́бы вы нашли́ приста́нище ка́ждая в до́ме своего́ му́жа! И поцелова́ла их. Но они́ подня́ли вопль и пла́кали

And they said to her, “Surely we will return with you to your people.”

и сказа́ли: нет, мы с тобо́ю возврати́мся к наро́ду твоему́.

But Naomi said, “Turn back, my daughters; why will you go with me? Are there still sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?

Ноеми́нь же сказа́ла: возврати́тесь, до́чери мои́; заче́м вам идти́ со мно́ю? Ра́зве ещё есть у меня́ сыновья́ в моём чре́ве, кото́рые бы́ли бы вам мужья́ми?

Turn back, my daughters, go — for I am too old to have a husband. If I should say I have hope, if I should have a husband tonight and should also bear sons,

Возврати́тесь, до́чери мои́, пойди́те, и́бо я уже́ стара́, чтоб быть за́мужем. Да е́сли б я и сказа́ла: «есть мне ещё наде́жда», и да́же е́сли бы я сию́ же ночь была́ с му́жем и пото́м родила́ сынове́й, —

would you wait for them till they were grown? Would you restrain yourselves from having husbands? No, my daughters; for it grieves me very much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord has gone out against me!”

то мо́жно ли вам ждать, пока́ они́ вы́росли бы? мо́жно ли вам ме́длить и не выходи́ть за́муж? Нет, до́чери мои́, я весьма́ сокруша́юсь о вас, и́бо рука́ Госпо́дня пости́гла меня́.

Then they lifted up their voices and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her.

Они́ подня́ли вопль и опя́ть ста́ли пла́кать. И О́рфа прости́лась со свекро́вью свое́ю, а Руфь оста́лась с не́ю.

And she said, “Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods; return after your sister-in-law.”

Ноеми́нь сказа́ла Ру́фи: вот, неве́стка твоя́ возврати́лась к наро́ду своему́ и к свои́м бога́м; возврати́сь и ты вслед за неве́сткою твое́ю.

But Ruth said: “Entreat[e] me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God.

Но Руфь сказа́ла: не принужда́й меня́ оста́вить тебя́ и возврати́ться от тебя́; но куда́ ты пойдёшь, туда́ и я пойду́, и где ты жить бу́дешь, там и я бу́ду жить; наро́д твой бу́дет мои́м наро́дом, и твой Бог — мои́м Бо́гом;

Where you die, I will die, And there will I be buried. The Lord do so to me, and more also, If anything but death parts you and me.”

и где ты умрёшь, там и я умру́ и погребена́ бу́ду; пусть то и то сде́лает мне Госпо́дь, и ещё бо́льше сде́лает; смерть одна́ разлучи́т меня́ с тобо́ю.

When she saw that she [f]was determined to go with her, she stopped speaking to her.

Ноеми́нь, ви́дя, что она́ твёрдо реши́лась идти́ с не́ю, переста́ла угова́ривать её.

Now the two of them went until they came to Bethlehem. And it happened, when they had come to Bethlehem, that all the city was excited because of them; and the women said, “Is this Naomi?”

И шли о́бе они́, доко́ле не пришли́ в Вифлее́м. Когда́ пришли́ они́ в Вифлее́м, весь го́род пришёл в движе́ние от них, и говори́ли: э́то Ноеми́нь?

But she said to them, “Do not call me [g]Naomi; call me [h]Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.

Она́ сказа́ла им: не называ́йте меня́ Ноеми́нью, а называ́йте меня́ Ма́рою, потому́ что Вседержи́тель посла́л мне вели́кую го́ресть;

I went out full, and the Lord has brought me home again empty. Why do you call me Naomi, since the Lord has testified against me, and [i]the Almighty has afflicted me?”

я вы́шла отсю́да с доста́тком, а возврати́л меня́ Госпо́дь с пусты́ми рука́ми; заче́м называ́ть меня́ Ноеми́нью, когда́ Госпо́дь заста́вил меня́ страда́ть, и Вседержи́тель посла́л мне несча́стье?

So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess her daughter-in-law with her, who returned from the country of Moab. Now they came to Bethlehem at the beginning of barley harvest.

И возврати́лась Ноеми́нь, и с не́ю сноха́ её Руфь Моавитя́нка, прише́дшая с поле́й Моави́тских, и пришли́ они́ в Вифлее́м в нача́ле жа́твы ячменя́.
