This letter is from Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, chosen by God to be an apostle and sent out to preach his Good News.

От Павла, слуги Иисуса Христа, призванного быть Его апостолом и избранного для возвещения Божьей Радостной Вести,

God promised this Good News long ago through his prophets in the holy Scriptures.

которая была заранее обещана через Его пророков в святых Писаниях.

The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line,

Эта весть о Его Сыне, Который по Своему человеческому происхождению[1] был потомком[2] Давида,

and he was shown to bea the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit.b He is Jesus Christ our Lord.

а через воскресение из мертвых, по Духу святости, был объявлен полноправным Сыном Божьим во всем Его могуществе, об Иисусе Христе, нашем Господе.

Through Christ, God has given us the privilegec and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name.

Через Него мы получили благодать и апостольство, чтобы ради Его имени покорить вере людей из всех народов,

And you are included among those Gentiles who have been called to belong to Jesus Christ.

в том числе и вас, призванных Иисусом Христом.

I am writing to all of you in Rome who are loved by God and are called to be his own holy people. May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.

Я обращаюсь ко всем тем римлянам, которых Бог полюбил и призвал быть Его святыми. Благодать и мир вам от Бога, нашего Отца, и от Господа Иисуса Христа!

Let me say first that I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith in him is being talked about all over the world.

Прежде всего я, через Иисуса Христа, благодарю моего Бога за всех вас, потому что о вашей вере известно всему миру.

God knows how often I pray for you. Day and night I bring you and your needs in prayer to God, whom I serve with all my heartd by spreading the Good News about his Son.

One of the things I always pray for is the opportunity, God willing, to come at last to see you.

For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord.

Я очень хочу увидеть вас и поделиться с вами духовным благословением, чтобы укрепить вас,

When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.

то есть, чтобы мы могли взаимно ободрить друг друга своей верой, вашей и моей.

I want you to know, dear brothers and sisters,e that I planned many times to visit you, but I was prevented until now. I want to work among you and see spiritual fruit, just as I have seen among other Gentiles.

Я хочу, чтобы вы знали, братья, что я уже много раз собирался прийти к вам, но до сих пор мне постоянно что-то препятствовало. Я хотел увидеть плод своего служения среди вас, как видел среди других народов.

For I have a great sense of obligation to people in both the civilized world and the rest of the world,f to the educated and uneducated alike.

Я должник и перед греками и варварами, и перед образованными и невеждами.

So I am eager to come to you in Rome, too, to preach the Good News.

Поэтому я так жажду возвещать Радостную Весть и вам, живущим в Риме.

For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes — the Jew first and also the Gentile.g

Я не стыжусь Радостной Вести, ведь она — сила Божья для спасения каждого, кто верит, — прежде всего иудея, а потом и язычника.

This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”h

В Радостной Вести праведность от Бога открывается верой, и только верой, как и написано: «Праведный верой жив будет».[3]

But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness.i

Ведь с небес открывается гнев Божий на всякое нечестие и неправедность людей, которые истину попирают злом.

They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them.

Им известно то, что можно знать о Боге, потому что Бог явил им это.

For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

От создания мира невидимые свойства Бога — Его вечная сила и Божественная природа — вполне могут быть поняты через рассматривание того, что Он сотворил. И значит, людям нет извинения,

Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.

потому что, хотя они и знали Бога, тем не менее они не прославили Его как Бога и не были благодарны Ему, но предались пустым размышлениям, и их неразумные сердца погрузились во мрак.

Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools.

Притязая на мудрость, они стали глупыми

And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.

и заменили славу нетленного Бога на образы, похожие на тленных людей, птиц, четвероногих животных и пресмыкающихся.

So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies.

Поэтому Бог оставил их на произвол низменных желаний их сердец, и они сами оскверняли свои тела нечистотой.

They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.

Эти люди заменили истину Божью на ложь и поклонялись и служили созданию, а не Создателю, Который достоин вечной славы, аминь.

That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other.

Итак, Бог оставил их на произвол их постыдных страстей, и в результате их женщины заменили естественные сношения с мужчинами на противоестественные: друг с другом;

And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.

так же и мужчины вместо естественных сношений с женщинами стали разжигаться страстью друг к другу; мужчины с мужчинами делают постыдные вещи, и сами в себе получают заслуженное наказание за свое извращение.

Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.

А поскольку они посчитали ненужным познавать Бога, то Бог оставил их на произвол их испорченных умов, допустив делать то, чего делать не должно.

Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip.

Они полны всякой неправедности, зла, жадности, порочности; полны зависти, убийства, раздоров, обмана, коварства, сплетен.

They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents.

Они клеветники, они ненавидят Бога, они наглы, надменны, хвастливы, изобретательны на зло, непокорны родителям;

They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy.

нет в них ни рассудка, ни веры, ни любви, ни милости.

They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.

Отношение Божье им известно — все, кто живет такой жизнью, достойны смерти, но они не только сами продолжают грешить, но и одобряют других, поступающих так же.
