Первую книгу, Феофил, я составил обо всём, что с самого начала делал и чему учил Иисус,

The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

до того дня, когда Он был вознесен, дав Святым Духом указания Посланникам, которых избрал,

Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

которым и явил Себя, живого, после Своих страданий, со многими доказательствами, в течение сорока дней являясь им и говоря о Царстве Божьем.

To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

И собрав их, Он повелел: — Не покидайте Иерусалим, но ждите обещанное Отцом — о чём вы слышали от Меня,

And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

потому что Иоанн омывал водой, а вы, спустя несколько дней, будете омыты в Святом Духе.

For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Поэтому, собравшись, они спрашивали Его: — Господь, не в это ли время Ты возвратишь царскую власть Израилю?

When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

Он же сказал им: — Не вам знать времена и сроки, которые Отец установил Своей властью,

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

но вы получите силу сошедшего на вас Святого Духа, и будете Моими свидетелями в Иерусалиме, и по всей Иудее и Самарии, и до края земли.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Сказав это, Он был поднят у них на виду, и облако скрыло Его из глаз их.

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

И пока они всматривались в небо, во время Его восхождения, вдруг рядом с ними появилось двое мужчин в белой одежде,

And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

которые сказали: — Галилеяне! Зачем стоите, всматриваясь в небо? Этот Иисус, который был поднят от вас на небо, придет таким же образом, как вы видели Его восходящим на небо.

Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Тогда они вернулись в Иерусалим с горы, называемой Масличная, что вблизи Иерусалима, на расстоянии субботнего пути.

Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.

И придя, поднялись в верхнюю комнату, где и оставались: Петр и Иоанн, и Иаков и Андрей, Филипп и Фома, Варфоломей и Матфей, Иаков Алфеев и Симон Зилот, и Иуда Иаковлев.

And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.

Все они были единодушны в постоянной молитве, вместе с женщинами и Марией, матерью Иисуса, и братьями Его.

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

И в эти дни Петр, встав посреди братьев, сказал (а собравшихся было примерно сто двадцать):

And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

— Мужи, братья, должно исполнится Писание, где Дух Святой устами Давида предсказал об Иуде, бывшем вожаке тех, кто схватил Иисуса,

Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

потому что он был одним из нас и получил жребий этого служения.

For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

На деньги, полученные им за совершённое им зло, он купил поле, но, упав вниз головой, разбился и внутренности его вывалились наружу.

Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

И это стало известно всем жителям Иерусалима, и они прозвали то поле на своём наречии «Акелдамах», то есть «Поле Крови».

And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.

А в книге Псалмов написано:«Да будет его двор пуст, и да не будет живущих в нём», и «Попечение его пусть возьмёт другой»

For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.

Итак, нужно, чтобы из людей, которые сопутствовали нам всё время, когда среди нас жил Господь Иисус,

Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

начиная с омовения Иоанна до того дня, в который Он был вознесен от нас, — стал вместе с нами свидетелем Его воскресения.

Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

И поставили двух: Иосифа, называемого Варсаввой, который был прозван Иустом, и Матфия.

And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

И, помолившись, сказали: — Ты, Господи, Сердцеведец всех, покажи, кого одного Ты выбрал из этих двух

And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,

принять место этого служения и посланничества, от которого отступил Иуда, чтобы отправиться в свое место.

That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

И бросили о них жребий, и жребий пал на Матфия, и он был причислен к одиннадцати Посланникам.

And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
