Иаков, раб Божий, раб Господа Иисуса Христа — двенадцати племенам в диаспоре: приветствую вас!

James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.

Какое бы ни выпало вам новое испытание, братья, каждое полагайте великой радостью.

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

Вы сами знаете, что с испытанием веры приходит терпение.

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

Ну, а действие терпения в итоге сообщит вам совершенство законченное, неущербное.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Если у кого из вас недостает мудрости, пусть просит у Бога. Он всем раздает щедрой рукой, без упреков. Даст и ему.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Но просит пусть с верой, ни на миг не усомнившись. Тот, кто сомневается, подобен морской волне, ветром гонимой и швыряемой:

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

Ему лучше оставить мысли получить что-нибудь от Господа.

For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

Такой человек нескладен и во всем, что делает, ненадежен.

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Брат униженный да примет как должное свое возвышение,

Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:

А богатый — унижение, потому что он отойдет как цвет на лугу.

But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

Встает солнце, палящим зноем иссушает траву — и цвет осыпается, красота лугов сходит на нет. Так никнет и богатый в своей озабоченности.

For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

Счастлив, кто прошел через все испытания и не сломался: он обретет венец жизни — по обещанию Господа тем, кто Его любит.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Когда случается беда, не говори: «Это мне от Бога испытание». Злу и бедам Бог не подвержен и Сам ни на кого беду не насылает.

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Каждый попадает в беду из-за своей похоти — она и уведет, и обольстит.

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Похоть, понеся, рождает грех, а претворенный грех оборачивается смертью.

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Не заблуждайтесь, дорогие братья:

Do not err, my beloved brethren.

От Отца светил, неизменного, не имеющего и тени перемен, приходит свыше только дарование полезное, дар совершенный.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Он по Слову истины задумал и породил нас, сделал нас неким первоначалом Своих творений.

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Запомните, дорогие братья: нам всем нужно прилежно слушать, обдуманно говорить и не давать воли гневу.

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

Гнев человека расходится с Божьей правдой.

For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Откажитесь от развязных манер, от охватившего всех озлобления. С кротостью примите Слово — оно спасает, когда западает в душу.

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Будьте деятелями Слова, а не слушателями, поверившими собственному притворству.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Кто слушает Слово и остается к нему глух, подобен тому, кто изучает в зеркале свое лицо, с которым родился:

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

Рассмотрел, отошел и в ту же минуту забыл, как и выглядел.

For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

А кто проникся законом совершенным, законом свободы, и претворяет его не как рассеянный ученик, а как исполнитель дела, тот трудится с результатом.

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Если кто из вас думает, что он набожен, тогда как в речах необуздан, да и сердцем не откровенен, у того набожность пустая.

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

Набожности ненапускной, чистой перед Богом Отцом, свойственно опекать сирот и вдов в их заброшенности и оставаться свободной от мерзости мира.

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
