Савл же одобрял это убийство. В тот день началось большое гонение на иерусалимскую церковь, и все, кроме апостолов, рассеялись по Иудее и Самарии.

And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.

Благочестивые люди похоронили Стефана и горько оплакивали его.

And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.

А Савл преследовал церковь. Он ходил из дома в дом, хватал мужчин и женщин и бросал их в тюрьму.

As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.

Между тем, христиане изгнанные из своих мест, проповедовали везде, куда бы они ни приходили.

Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

Филипп пришел в главный город Самарии и проповедовал там о Христе.

Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

Толпы народа внимательно слушали то, что он говорил, и видели знамения, которые он совершал,

And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

потому что из многих одержимых выходили с громким криком нечистые духи; многие парализованные и хромые получали исцеление.

For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

В городе была большая радость.

And there was great joy in that city.

Был там один человек по имени Симон, который раньше занимался в этом городе колдовством, изумляя жителей Самарии; сам он считал себя великим.

But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:

Все люди, и простые, и знатные, слушали его с восхищением, говоря: — Этот человек наделен божественной силой, которую называют Великой Силой.

To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.

А восхищались им потому, что он уже долгое время удивлял людей своим колдовством.

And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.

Но когда жители этого города поверили Филиппу, проповедовавшему о Царстве Божьем и об имени Иисуса Христа, то многие мужчины и женщины приняли крещение.

But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

Симон тоже поверил и принял крещение. Он повсюду ходил за Филиппом, удивляясь знамениям и великим чудесам.

Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

Когда апостолы в Иерусалиме услышали о том, что в Самарии приняли слово Божье, они послали к ним Петра и Иоанна.

Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

Те пришли и молились, чтобы новообращенные получили Духа Святого,

Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:

потому что ни на кого из них Дух еще не сошел, они только были крещены во имя Господа Иисуса.

(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)

Затем Петр и Иоанн возложили на них руки, и они приняли Святого Духа.

Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Когда Симон увидел, что Дух дается через возложение рук апостолов, он предложил им деньги,

And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

говоря: — Дайте и мне такую силу, чтобы тот, на кого я возложу руки, получал Святого Духа.

Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.

Но Петр ответил: — Пусть твои деньги погибнут вместе с тобой, потому что ты думаешь, что можешь купить дар Божий за деньги!

But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

У тебя нет никакого права совершать служение, которое мы совершаем, потому что сердце твое не право перед Богом.

Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.

Раскайся в этом зле и молись Господу, может быть, Он простит тебе такие мысли.

Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

Я вижу, что ты полон горькой желчи и скован цепями неправды.

For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

Симон ответил: — Помолитесь обо мне Господу, чтобы со мной не приключилось ничего из того, о чем вы говорили.

Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.

Aпостолы свидетельствовали там и проповедовали слово Господа. Потом они пошли обратно в Иерусалим и по дороге проповедовали Радостную весть во многих самарийских деревнях.

And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

Aнгел Господа сказал Филиппу: — Ступай на юг, на дорогу, что ведет через пустыню из Иерусалима в Газу.

And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

Филипп встал и пошел. В это время там находился эфиопский евнух, придворный Кандакии, царицы эфиопов, заведовавший всей ее казной. Он приезжал на поклонение в Иерусалим

And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,

и теперь возвращался домой. Сидя в своей колеснице, он читал книгу пророка Исайи.

Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

Дух сказал Филиппу: — Подойди к этой колеснице и иди рядом.

Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

Филипп подбежал к колеснице и услышал, что в ней читают пророка Исайю. — Ты понимаешь то, о чем читаешь? — спросил Филипп.

And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

— Как же мне понять без объяснения? — ответил тот и пригласил Филиппа подняться и сесть с ним.

And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

А он читал такое место из Писания: "Как овца веден Он был на заклание, и как ягненок перед стригущим, Он не открывал уст своих.

The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

Он был унижен и лишен права на справедливый суд. Кто может рассказать о Его потомках? Ведь Его жизнь берется с земли".

In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

Евнух спросил Филиппа: — Скажи мне, о ком это пророк здесь говорит, о себе или о ком-то другом?

And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

Тогда Филипп стал объяснять, начав с этого места Писания, и рассказал ему радостную весть об Иисусе.

Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

Тем временем они приблизились к воде. — Смотри, вот вода, — сказал евнух. — Что мешает мне принять крещение?

And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

Некоторые рукописи включают стих: "Филипп сказал: — Если ты веришь всем сердцем, то можно. Евнух сказал: — Я верю, что Иисус Христос — Сын Божий".

And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Он приказал остановить колесницу, оба они, Филипп и евнух, вошли в воду, и Филипп крестил его.

And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

Когда они вышли из воды, Дух Господа вдруг взял Филиппа оттуда, и евнух его больше не видел. Радостный, он продолжал свой путь.

And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

А Филипп оказался в городе Aзоте. Он проповедовал Радостную весть во всех городах, пока не пришел в Кесарию.

But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.
