Симон Петр, раб и апостол Иисуса Христа. Тем, кто благодаря праведности нашего Бога и Спасителя Иисуса Христа получил ту же драгоценную веру, что и мы.

Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:

Пусть через познание Бога и нашего Господа Иисуса вам будут в избытке даны благодать и мир.

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;

Его божественная сила дала нам все необходимое для жизни и благочестия через познание Бога, призвавшего нас своей собственной славой и добродетелью.

seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.

Он дал нам самые великие и драгоценные обещания, чтобы через них вы стали причастны божественной природе и избежали растления мирскими страстями.

For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.

Поэтому делайте все возможное, чтобы дополнить вашу веру добродетелью, добродетель — знанием,

Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge,

знание — умением владеть собой, умение владеть собой — стойкостью, стойкость — благочестием,

and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness,

благочестие — братолюбием, братолюбие — любовью.

and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love.

Если в вас есть эти качества и если они умножаются, то ваше познание Господа нашего Иисуса Христа уже не будет бесполезным и бесплодным.

For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

У кого же этих качеств нет, тот слеп и близорук, и забыл об очищении от своих прошлых грехов.

For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins.

Поэтому тем более, братья, стремитесь укрепляться в вашем положении призванных и избранных. Так вы никогда не споткнетесь,

Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble;

и вам будет широко открыт вход в вечное Царство нашего Господа и Спасителя Иисуса Христа.

for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.

Я никогда не перестану вам об этом напоминать, хотя вам это и известно и вы утверждены в истине, которую приняли.

Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you.

Но пока я нахожусь в этом теле, я считаю правильным будить вас напоминанием.

I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder,

Я знаю, что скоро мне предстоит уйти из этой жизни, как и Господь наш Иисус Христос открыл мне.

knowing that the laying aside of my earthly dwelling is imminent, as also our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.

Поэтому я буду стараться, чтобы даже тогда, когда меня среди вас уже не будет, вы бы в любое время вспоминали об этих истинах.

And I will also be diligent that at any time after my departure you will be able to call these things to mind.

Когда мы говорили вам о силе и пришествии нашего Господа Иисуса Христа, мы следовали не искусно сочиненным сказкам; мы сами были очевидцами Его величия.

For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.

Честь и слава были даны Ему Богом и Отцом, голос которого прозвучал для Него в великой славе: "Это Мой любимый Сын, в Нем исполнение Моей доброй воли".

For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, “This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased” —

Мы сами слышали этот голос, пришедший с небес, когда были вместе с Ним на святой горе.

and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.

Теперь мы еще тверже уверены в пророческом слове, и вы хорошо делаете, что внимаете ему, как светильнику, сияющему во тьме, пока не настанет день и утренняя звезда не взойдет в ваших сердцах.

So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.

И помните прежде всего о том, что никакое пророчество в Писании не следует толковать самому,

But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation,

потому что пророчества никогда не были произносимы по воле человека, но люди, движимые Святым Духом, говорили от Бога.

for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
