Первую книгу написал я к тебе, Феофил, о всём, что Иисус делал и чему учил от начала

The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

до того дня, в который Он вознёсся, дав Святым Духом повеления Апостолам, которых Он избрал,

until the day in which [a]He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen,

которым и явил Себя живым, по страдании Своём, со многими верными доказательствами, в продолжение сорока дней являясь им и говоря о Царствии Божием.

to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many [b]infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

И, собрав их, Он повелел им: не отлучайтесь из Иерусалима, но ждите обещанного от Отца, о чём вы слышали от Меня,

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me;

ибо Иоанн крестил водою, а вы, через несколько дней после сего, будете крещены Духом Святым.

for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

Посему они, сойдясь, спрашивали Его, говоря: не в сие ли время, Господи, восстановляешь Ты царство Израилю?

Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”

Он же сказал им: не ваше дело знать времена или сроки, которые Отец положил в Своей власти,

And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.

но вы примете силу, когда сойдёт на вас Дух Святой; и будете Мне свидетелями в Иерусалиме и во всей Иудее и Самарии и даже до края земли.

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be [c]witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Сказав сие, Он поднялся в глазах их, и облако взяло Его из вида их.

Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.

И когда они смотрели на небо, во время восхождения Его, вдруг предстали им два мужа в белой одежде

And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,

и сказали: мужи Галилейские! что вы стоите и смотрите на небо? Сей Иисус, вознёсшийся от вас на небо, придёт таким же образом, как вы видели Его восходящим на небо.

who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

Тогда они возвратились в Иерусалим с горы, называемой Елеон, которая находится близ Иерусалима, в расстоянии субботнего пути.

Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey.

И, придя, взошли в горницу, где и пребывали, Пётр и Иаков, Иоанн и Андрей, Филипп и Фома, Варфоломей и Матфей, Иаков Алфеев и Симон Зилот, и Иуда, брат Иакова.

And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas the son of James.

Все они единодушно пребывали в молитве и молении, с некоторыми жёнами и Мариею, Материю Иисуса, и с братьями Его.

These all continued with one [d]accord in prayer [e]and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

И в те дни Пётр, став посреди учеников, сказал

And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the [f]disciples (altogether the number of names was about a hundred and twenty), and said,

(было же собрание человек около ста двадцати): мужи братия! Надлежало исполниться тому, что в Писании предрёк Дух Святой устами Давида об Иуде, бывшем вожде тех, которые взяли Иисуса;

“Men and brethren, this Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus;

он был сопричислен к нам и получил жребий служения сего;

for he was numbered with us and obtained a part in this ministry.”

но приобрел землю неправедною мздою, и, когда низринулся, расселось чрево его, и выпали все внутренности его;

(Now this man purchased a field with the [g]wages of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his [h]entrails gushed out.

и это сделалось известно всем жителям Иерусалима, так что земля та на отечественном их наречии названа Акелдама, то есть «земля крови».

And it became known to all those dwelling in Jerusalem; so that field is called in their own language, Akel Dama, that is, Field of Blood.)

В книге же Псалмов написано: «да будет двор его пуст, и да не будет живущего в нём»; и: «достоинство его да приимет другой».

“For it is written in the Book of Psalms: ‘Let his dwelling place be [i]desolate, And let no one live in it’; and, ‘Let another take his [j]office.’

Итак, надобно, чтобы один из тех, которые находились с нами во всё время, когда пребывал и обращался с нами Господь Иисус,

“Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

начиная от крещения Иоаннова до того дня, в который Он вознёсся от нас, был вместе с нами свидетелем воскресения Его.

beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”

И поставили двоих: Иосифа, называемого Варсавою, который прозван Иустом, и Матфия;

And they proposed two: Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

и помолились и сказали: Ты, Господи, Сердцеведец всех, покажи из сих двоих одного, которого Ты избрал

And they prayed and said, “You, O Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two You have chosen

принять жребий сего служения и Апостольства, от которого отпал Иуда, чтобы идти в своё место.

to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.”

И бросили о них жребий, и выпал жребий Матфию, и он сопричислен к одиннадцати Апостолам.

And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
