В моей первой книге, Феофил, я описал всё, что делал и чему учил Иисус,

The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

описал всю Его жизнь с самого начала до того дня, когда Он вознёсся на небо, после того как через Святого Духа дал наставления апостолам, которых избрал.

Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

После Своего страдания Он являлся им, и дал много верных доказательств того, что жив. В продолжение сорока дней Он являлся им и говорил о царстве Божьем.

To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

И однажды, когда Он ел с ними, Он повелел: "Не покидайте Иерусалим, а ждите обещанного Отцом, о чём слышали вы от Меня:

And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

ибо Иоанн крестил людей водой, а вы вскоре будете крещены Святым Духом".

For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

И когда собрались они вместе, апостолы спросили у Иисуса: "Господи! Не вернёшь ли Ты теперь царство Израилю?"

When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

Он сказал им: "Не вам знать времена и сроки, которые властью Своей установил Отец.

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

Но вы получите силу, когда Святой Дух снизойдёт на вас, и будете свидетелями Моими, сначала в Иерусалиме и по всей Иудее и Самарии, а потом до краёв земли".

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Сказав это, Он на глазах у них вознёсся на небеса, и облако скрыло Его от них.

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

Они пристально вглядывались в небеса, как вдруг двое мужчин, одетых в белое, предстали перед ними

And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

и сказали: "Галилеяне! Почему вы стоите здесь, глядя на небо? Иисус, вознёсшийся от вас на небо, вернётся так же, как вы видели Его восходящим на небо".

Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Затем они вернулись в Иерусалим с Горы Елеонской, которая находится на расстоянии субботнего дня пути от Иерусалима.

Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.

And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.

Все вместе они предались молитве. С ними было несколько женщин и Мария, Мать Иисуса, и Его братья.

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

Несколько дней спустя верующие собрались вместе (а всего их было там около ста двадцати учеников), и Пётр встал и сказал:

And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

"Братья мои, должно было исполниться Писание, в котором Святой Дух предсказал через Давида об Иуде, который возглавил схвативших Иисуса.

Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

Он был одним из нас и разделил труды наши".

For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

Иуда купил поле на деньги, полученные за это преступление, но упал головой вниз и разбился, и все внутренности его выпали наружу.

Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

Это стало известно всем, кто жил в Иерусалиме, и это поле стало называться на их языке Акелдама, то есть "Кровавое поле".

And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.

"Ибо написано в книге Псалмов: "Да будет земля его заброшена, и пусть никто не живёт там". И также: "Пусть другой человек займёт его место служения".

For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.

И потому нужно, чтобы ещё один человек присоединился к нам и стал свидетелем воскресения Иисуса.

Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

Этот человек должен быть одним из тех, кто был среди нас всё то время, пока Господь Иисус был с нами, с того самого времени, когда Иоанн начал крестить людей, и до того дня, когда Иисус вознёсся от нас на небеса".

Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

И предложили они двоих: Иосифа, называемого Варсавой (известного также, как Иуст), и Матфия.

And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

Затем они помолились, говоря: "Господи, Ты знаешь, что у каждого на сердце. Покажи нам, которого из этих двоих Ты избрал и

And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,

кто займёт место служения апостола, которое оставил Иуда, когда отправился туда, где ему надлежит быть".

That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

Затем они бросили жребий, чтобы выбрать между этими двумя, и Богу было угодно, чтобы жребий выпал Матфию, так что он тоже стал святым апостолом, как и остальные одиннадцать.

And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
