“But I will not break off My lovingkindness from him, Nor deal falsely in My faithfulness.
But You have cast off and rejected, You have been full of wrath against Your anointed.
Every morning I will destroy all the wicked of the land, So as to cut off from the city of the LORD all those who do iniquity.
Let his posterity be cut off; In a following generation let their name be blotted out.

“For the sake of My name I delay My wrath, And for My praise I restrain it for you, In order not to cut you off.
“Your descendants would have been like the sand, And your offspring like its grains; Their name would never be cut off or destroyed from My presence.”
By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered That He was cut off out of the land of the living For the transgression of my people, to whom the stroke was due?
“Instead of the thorn bush the cypress will come up, And instead of the nettle the myrtle will come up, And it will be a memorial to the LORD, For an everlasting sign which will not be cut off.”
To them I will give in My house and within My walls a memorial, And a name better than that of sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name which will not be cut off.

But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter; And I did not know that they had devised plots against me, saying, “Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, And let us cut him off from the land of the living, That his name be remembered no more.”
But You know me, O LORD; You see me; And You examine my heart’s attitude toward You. Drag them off like sheep for the slaughter And set them apart for a day of carnage!
