15 “Suppose a man has two wives, but he loves one and not the other, and both have given him sons. And suppose the firstborn son is the son of the wife he does not love.
He must recognize the rights of his oldest son, the son of the wife he does not love, by giving him a double portion. He is the first son of his father’s virility, and the rights of the firstborn belong to him.
If its owner does not live nearby or you don’t know who the owner is, take it to your place and keep it until the owner comes looking for it. Then you must return it.

So why are you bringing a charge against him? Why say he does not respond to people’s complaints?
“Yes, God does these things again and again for people.
If you sin, how does that affect God? Even if you sin again and again, what effect will it have on him?
And when they cry out, God does not answer because of their pride.
You say he does not respond to sinners with anger and is not greatly concerned about wickedness.
“God is mighty, but he does not despise anyone! He is mighty in both power and understanding.
He does not let the wicked live but gives justice to the afflicted.
Then comes the roaring of the thunder — the tremendous voice of his majesty. He does not restrain it when he speaks.
We cannot imagine the power of the Almighty; but even though he is just and righteous, he does not destroy us.
