but in the place which the LORD chooses in one of your tribes, there you shall offer your burnt offerings, and there you shall do all that I command you.
“Be careful to listen to all these words which I command you, so that it may be well with you and your sons after you forever, for you will be doing what is good and right in the sight of the LORD your God.
“Whatever I command you, you shall be careful to do; you shall not add to nor take away from it.
“For the poor will never cease to be in the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall freely open your hand to your brother, to your needy and poor in your land.’
“You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this today.
‘I will raise up a prophet from among their countrymen like you, and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him.
“Therefore, I command you, saying, ‘You shall set aside three cities for yourself.’
if you carefully observe all this commandment which I command you today, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in His ways always — then you shall add three more cities for yourself, besides these three.
1 Then Moses and the elders of Israel charged the people, saying, “Keep all the commandments which I command you today.
“You shall therefore obey the LORD your God, and do His commandments and His statutes which I command you today.”
