But profane, vain babblings shun, for they will advance to greater impiety,
and their word will spread as a gangrene; of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
and that they may awake up out of the snare of the devil, [who are] taken by him, for *his* will.
And all indeed who desire to live piously in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
For the time shall be when they will not bear sound teaching; but according to their own lusts will heap up to themselves teachers, having an itching ear;
and they will turn away their ear from the truth, and will have turned aside to fables.
Henceforth the crown of righteousness is laid up for me, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will render to me in that day; but not only to me, but also to all who love his appearing.
Alexander the smith did many evil things against me. The Lord will render to him according to his works.
*I* Paul have written [it] with mine own hand; *I* will repay [it]: that I say not to thee that thou owest even thine own self also to me.
For to which of the angels said he ever, *Thou* art my Son: this day have *I* begotten thee? and again, *I* will be to him for father, and *he* shall be to me for son?
God bearing, besides, witness with [them] to [it], both by signs and wonders, and various acts of power, and distributions of [the] Holy Spirit, according to his will?
saying, I will declare thy name to my brethren; in [the] midst of [the] assembly will I sing thy praises.
And again, I will trust in him. And again, Behold, I and the children which God has given me.
7 Wherefore, even as says the Holy Spirit, To-day if ye will hear his voice,
in that it is said, To-day if ye will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation;
again he determines a certain day, saying, in David, 'To-day,' after so long a time; (according as it has been said before), To-day, if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
and this will we do if God permit.
saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee;
(for they are become priests without the swearing of an oath, but he with the swearing of an oath, by him who said, as to him, The Lord has sworn, and will not repent [of it], *Thou* [art] priest for ever [according to the order of Melchisedec];)
For finding fault, he says to them, Behold, days come, saith the Lord, and I will consummate a new covenant as regards the house of Israel, and as regards the house of Juda;
Because this [is] the covenant that I will covenant to the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord: Giving my laws into their mind, I will write them also upon their hearts; and I will be to them for God, and *they* shall be to me for people.
Because I will be merciful to their unrighteousnesses, and their sins and their lawlessnesses I will never remember any more.
Then I said, Lo, I come (in [the] roll of the book it is written of me) to do, O God, thy will.
then he said, Lo, I come to do thy will. He takes away the first that he may establish the second;
by which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
This [is] the covenant which I will establish towards them after those days, saith [the] Lord: Giving my laws into their hearts, I will write them also in their understandings;
and their sins and their lawlessnesses I will never remember any more.
For we know him that said, To me [belongs] vengeance; *I* will recompense, saith the Lord: and again, The Lord shall judge his people.
For ye have need of endurance in order that, having done the will of God, ye may receive the promise.
For yet a very little while he that comes will come, and will not delay.
whose voice then shook the earth; but now he has promised, saying, Yet once will *I* shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.
[Let] marriage [be held] every way in honour, and the bed [be] undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers will God judge.
5 [Let your] conversation [be] without love of money, satisfied with [your] present circumstances; for *he* has said, I will not leave thee, neither will I forsake thee.
So that, taking courage, we may say, The Lord [is] my helper, and I will not be afraid: what will man do unto me?
perfect you in every good work to the doing of his will, doing in you what is pleasing before him through Jesus Christ; to whom [be] glory for the ages of ages. Amen.
Know that our brother Timotheus is set at liberty; with whom, if he should come soon, I will see you.
and the rich in his humiliation, because as [the] grass's flower he will pass away.
According to his own will begat he us by the word of truth, that we should be a certain first-fruits of *his* creatures.
for judgment [will be] without mercy to him that has shewn no mercy. Mercy glories over judgment.
But some one will say, *Thou* hast faith and *I* have works. Shew me thy faith without works, and *I* from my works will shew thee my faith.
Behold also the ships, which are so great, and driven by violent winds, are turned about by a very small rudder, wherever the pleasure of the helmsman will.
7 Subject yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse [your] hands, sinners, and purify [your] hearts, ye double-minded.
13 Go to now, ye who say, To-day or to-morrow will we go into such a city and spend a year there, and traffic and make gain,
ye who do not know what will be on the morrow, ([for] what [is] your life? It is even a vapour, appearing for a little while, and then disappearing,)
instead of your saying, If the Lord should [so] will and we should live, we will also do this or that.
13 Wherefore, having girded up the loins of your mind, [be] sober [and] hope with perfect stedfastness in the grace [which will be] brought to you at [the] revelation of Jesus Christ;
Because so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of senseless men;
For he that will love life and see good days, let him cause his tongue to cease from evil and his lips that they speak no guile.
For [it is] better, if the will of God should will it, to suffer [as] well-doers than [as] evildoers;
