Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.
“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near.
Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.
“But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’
“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.
“As you know, the Passover is two days away — and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”
But he denied it before them all. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said.
He denied it again, with an oath: “I don’t know the man!”
Then he began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know the man!” Immediately a rooster crowed.
“Take a guard,” Pilate answered. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.”
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.
“What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are — the Holy One of God!”

“Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back — whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn.
When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. They did not know what to say to him.
But he denied it. “I don’t know or understand what you’re talking about,” he said, and went out into the entryway.
He began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know this man you’re talking about.”
so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.
“Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”
“Go away! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are — the Holy One of God!”

When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is — that she is a sinner.”
But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.”
As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters — one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” (He did not know what he was saying.)

But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
