Dies sind die Worte, welche Amos, der unter den Hirten von Tekoa war, über Israel geschaut hat in den Tagen Ussias, des Königs von Juda, und in den Tagen Jerobeams, des Sohnes des Joas, des Königs von Israel, zwei Jahre vor dem Erdbeben.

The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

Er sprach: Der HERR wird aus Zion brüllen und seine Stimme von Jerusalem her hören lassen; da werden die Auen der Hirten verdorren, und der Gipfel des Karmel wird verwelken.

And he said, Jehovah roareth from Zion, and uttereth his voice from Jerusalem; and the pastures of the shepherds mourn, and the top of Carmel withereth.

So spricht der HERR: Wegen drei und wegen vier Übertretungen von Damaskus wende ich solches nicht ab, nämlich weil sie Gilead mit eisernen Schlitten zerdroschen haben;

Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not revoke [my sentence], because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron.

darum will ich ein Feuer in das Haus Hasaels senden, das die Paläste Benhadads verzehren soll;

And I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben-Hadad.

und ich will den Riegel von Damaskus zerbrechen und die Bewohner des Freveltals ausrotten samt dem, der das Zepter im Lusthause hält; und das Syrervolk soll nach Kir in die Verbannung wandern, spricht der HERR.

And I will break the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the valley of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Beth-Eden; and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith Jehovah.

So spricht der HERR: Wegen drei und wegen vier Übertretungen von Gaza wende ich solches nicht ab, weil sie Gefangene in voller Zahl abgeführt und an Edom ausgeliefert haben;

Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Gazah, and for four, I will not revoke its sentence; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver [them] up to Edom.

darum will ich ein Feuer in die Mauern von Gaza senden, das seine Paläste verzehren soll;

And I will send a fire on the wall of Gazah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.

und ich will die Bewohner von Asdod ausrotten und den, der in Askalon das Zepter hält, und will meine Hand wider Ekron wenden, daß umkommen soll, wer von den Philistern noch übrig ist, spricht Gott, der HERR.

And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn my hand against Ekron; and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord Jehovah.

So spricht der HERR: Wegen drei und wegen vier Übertretungen der Stadt Tyrus wende ich solches nicht ab, weil sie Gefangene in voller Zahl an Edom ausgeliefert und des Bruderbundes nicht gedacht haben.

Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Tyre, and for four, I will not revoke its sentence; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant.

Darum will ich ein Feuer in die Mauern von Tyrus senden, das ihre Paläste verzehren soll.

And I will send a fire on the wall of Tyre, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.

So spricht der HERR: Wegen drei und wegen vier Übertretungen Edoms wende ich solches nicht ab, weil er seinen Bruder mit dem Schwerte verfolgt und sein Erbarmen erstickt und seinem Zorn stets den Lauf gelassen und seinen Grimm allezeit behalten hat;

Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not revoke its sentence; because he pursued his brother with the sword, and cast off all pity; and his anger did tear continually, and he kept his wrath for ever.

darum will ich ein Feuer nach Teman senden, welches die Paläste von Bozra verzehren soll.

And I will send a fire upon Teman, and it shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.

So spricht der HERR: Wegen drei und wegen vier Übertretungen der Kinder Ammon wende ich solches nicht ab, weil sie die Schwangern in Gilead aufgeschlitzt haben, um ihr eigenes Gebiet zu erweitern;

Thus saith Jehovah: For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not revoke its sentence; because they ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border.

darum will ich ein Feuer in den Mauern von Rabba anzünden, das ihre Paläste verzehren soll, unter Kriegsgeschrei am Tage der Schlacht und im Wetter am Tage des Sturms.

And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind.

Und ihr König muß in die Gefangenschaft wandern und seine Fürsten samt ihm, spricht der HERR.

And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith Jehovah.
