Господь сказал Авраму: "Покинь свою страну и свой народ, покинь семью своего отца и отправляйся в страну, которую Я укажу тебе.

And Jehovah had said to Abram, Go out of thy land, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, to the land that I will shew thee.

Я произведу от тебя великий народ, благословлю тебя и возвеличу, и люди будут благословлять друг друга твоим именем.

And I will make of thee a great nation, and bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.

Я благословлю благословляющих тебя и прокляну клянущих тебя, и благословлю через тебя всех людей на земле".

And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee; and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Аврам повиновался Господу и покинул Харран. С ним пошёл и Лот. Авраму же в то время было 75 лет.

And Abram departed as Jehovah had said to him. And Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed out of Haran.

Аврам ушёл из Харрана не один; он взял с собой свою жену Сару, племянника Лота и всё, чем владел в Харране. Все рабы, которые принадлежали Авраму в Харране, отправились вместе с ними. Аврам и те, кто был с ним, покинули Харран и отправились в Ханаанскую землю.

And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions that they had acquired, and the souls that they had obtained in Haran, and they went out to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.

Пройдя по ханаанской земле, Аврам добрался до города Сихема, до дубравы Море. В том месте жили в те времена хананеи.

And Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.

Господь явился Авраму и сказал: "Я отдам эту землю твоему потомству". Аврам соорудил в том месте алтарь для поклонения Господу, поэтому Господь явился Авраму.

And Jehovah appeared to Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land. And there he built an altar to Jehovah who had appeared to him.

Уйдя оттуда, Аврам отправился в горы к востоку от города Вефиля и поставил там свой шатёр, так что на западе от него был город Вефиль, а на востоке был город Гай. В этом месте Аврам соорудил ещё один алтарь и поклонялся там Господу.

And he removed thence towards the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, [having] Bethel toward the west, and Ai toward the east; and there he built an altar to Jehovah, and called on the name of Jehovah.

После этого Аврам снова отправился в путь, направляясь в сторону Негева.

And Abram moved onward, going on still toward the south.

В те времена в тех краях стояла засуха, дождей не было, и ничего не росло, поэтому Аврам отправился жить в Египет.

And there was a famine in the land. And Abram went down to Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine was grievous in the land.

Аврам видел, что его жена Сара очень красива, и перед приходом в Египет он сказал Саре: "Я знаю, что ты очень красивая женщина.

And it came to pass when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a woman fair to look upon.

Когда египтяне увидят тебя, то скажут: "Эта женщина — его жена", и убьют меня, ибо пожелают тебя.

And it will come to pass when the Egyptians see thee, that they will say, She is his wife; and they will slay me, and save thee alive.

Скажи им, что ты моя сестра, тогда они меня не убьют. Думая, что я твой брат, они отнесутся ко мне хорошо, и ты спасёшь мне жизнь".

Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister, that it may be well with me on thy account, and my soul may live because of thee.

Аврам пришёл в Египет, и египтяне увидели, что Сара очень красива.

And it came to pass when Abram came into Egypt, that the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair.

Увидели её и некоторые египетские вельможи. Они сказали фараону, что Сара очень красивая женщина, и привели её к фараону во дворец.

And the princes of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house.

Фараон, думая, что Аврам брат Сары, был к нему милостив, дал ему скота, овец и ослов. Аврам получил также слуг, служанок и верблюдов.

And he treated Abram well on her account; and he had sheep, and oxen, and he-asses, and bondmen, and bondwomen, and she-asses, and camels.

Фараон взял себе жену Аврама, и Господь навёл на фараона и всех его домочадцев страшные болезни.

And Jehovah plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife.

Тогда фараон призвал Аврама и сказал ему: "Что ты сделал со мной? Почему ты не сказал, что Сара твоя жена?

And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What is this thou hast done to me? Why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife?

Ты сказал: "Она моя сестра". Почему ты так сказал? Я взял её, чтобы она стала мне женой, а теперь отдаю её тебе обратно. Возьми её и уходи!"

Why didst thou say, She is my sister, so that I took her as my wife. And now, behold, there is thy wife: take [her], and go away.

Фараон приказал людям вывести Аврама из Египта, и Аврам с женой ушли оттуда, забрав с собой всё, что у них было.

And Pharaoh commanded [his] men concerning him, and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.
