Every high priest is a man chosen to represent other people in their dealings with God. He presents their gifts to God and offers sacrifices for their sins.

Ведь каждый первосвященник избирается из людей и поставляется на служение для того, чтобы представлять людей перед Богом, принося Ему дары и жертвы за грехи.

And he is able to deal gently with ignorant and wayward people because he himself is subject to the same weaknesses.

Такой первосвященник может понять и незнающих, и тех, кто сбился с пути, так как он сам подвержен слабостям;

That is why he must offer sacrifices for his own sins as well as theirs.

и по этой причине он должен приносить жертвы и за свои собственные грехи, и за грехи народа.

And no one can become a high priest simply because he wants such an honor. He must be called by God for this work, just as Aaron was.

Эту честь человек не может присвоить себе сам, он должен быть призван Богом, как в свое время был призван Aарон.

That is why Christ did not honor himself by assuming he could become High Priest. No, he was chosen by God, who said to him, “You are my Son. Today I have become your Father.a”

Христос тоже не сам прославил себя, став Первосвященником, но Бог сказал Ему: "Ты Сын Мой, сегодня Я родил Тебя".

And in another passage God said to him, “You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.”b

И в другом месте Он говорит: "Ты Священник навеки по чину Мелхиседека".

While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue him from death. And God heard his prayers because of his deep reverence for God.

Во время своей земной жизни Иисус громко, с воплем и со слезами молился тому, кто мог избавить Его от смерти, и Он был услышан за своё благоговение.

Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered.

Несмотря на то, что Он был Сыном, Он в своих страданиях научился послушанию

In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him.

и в своем совершенстве сделался источником вечного спасения для всякого, кто послушен Ему.

And God designated him to be a High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.

Самим Богом Он был назван Священником по чину Мелхиседека.

There is much more we would like to say about this, but it is difficult to explain, especially since you are spiritually dull and don’t seem to listen.

У нас есть много что сказать об этом, но нам трудно объяснять, потому что вы медленно усваиваете.

You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word.c You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food.

Судя по времени, вам следует уже быть учителями, но пока что вы сами нуждаетесь в учителях, которые бы учили вас азам истин Божьего слова. Вам еще надо питаться молоком, а не твердой пищей.

For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right.

А всякий, кто питается молоком, — это грудной младенец, не знакомый с учением о праведности.

Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.

Твердая же пища — для взрослых, чувства которых опытом приучены различать, где добро, а где зло.
