Стары, выбрана́й па́ні і дзецям ейным, каторых я люблю шчыра, і ня толькі я, але і ўсе, што спасьцíглі Праўду.

The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

Па той прычыне, што ў нас жыве Праўда, і Яна ў нас будзе навек,

For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

з намі будзе Багадаць, літасьць, мір ад Бога Ба́цькі і ад Госпада Ісуса Хрыста, Сына Ба́цькі па праўдзе і любві.

Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

Я дужа ўзрадаваўся, што знайшоў сярод дзяцей тваіх такіх, што ходзяць у Праўдзе, як мы дасталі прыказаньне ад Ба́цькі.

I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

І цяпер умаляю цябе, пані, ня як бы прадпісваючы табе новае прыказаньне, але тое, якое мы мелі ад пачатку, каб мы любілі адзін аднаго.

And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

І гэта ёсьць любоў, каб мы жылí па прыказаньням Ягоным. Гэта ёсьць тое прыказаньне, якое вы пачулі ад пачатку, каб (вам) па яму жыць,

And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

бо многія падманшчыкі прыйшлі ў сьвет, якія ня вызнаюць Ісуса Хрыста, што прыйшоў у целе: гэткі (чалавек) ёсьць падманшчык і антыхрыст.

For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Узірайцеся ў сябе, каб нам ня згубіць таго, (над чым) мы працавалі, але каб нам атрымаць поўную ўзнагароду.

Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

Кожны, хто пераступае навуку Хрыста, і ня прабывае ў ёй, Бога ня мае; хто прабывае ў наву́цы Хрыста — гэты мае Ба́цьку і Сына.

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

Калі хто прыходзіць да вас і гэтай навукі ня прыносіць, яго ня прыймайце ў дом і ня вітайце яго.

If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

Бо хто вітае яго, той удзельнічае ў благіх учынках ягоных.

For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Маючы многае вам пісаць, ня хачу на паперы і чарніламі, але спадзяюся прыйсьці да вас і гаварыць вуснамі да вуснаў, каб радасьць нашая была́ поўная.

Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

Вітаюць цябе дзеці сястры тваёй выбранай. Амін.

The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.
