Ста́рац — абра́най спада́рыні і дзе́цям яе, якіх я люблю́ ў íсціне, і не толькі я, але і ўсе, хто спазна́ў íсціну,

The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

дзе́ля íсціны, якая знахо́дзіцца ў нас і будзе з намі ве́чна;

For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

няхай будзе з вамі благада́ць, мíласць, мір ад Бога Айца і ад Госпада Іісуса Хрыста, Сына Айцовага, у íсціне і любо́ві.

Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

Я вельмі ўзра́даваўся, бо сярод дзяце́й тваіх знайшоў тыіх, што хо́дзяць у íсціне паво́дле за́паведзі, якую мы атрыма́лі ад Айца.

I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

І цяпер прашу цябе, спада́рыня, не як новую за́паведзь пíшучы табе, а як тую, што ма́ем ад пачатку: каб мы любíлі адзін аднаго́.

And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

Любоў жа ў тым, каб мы жылí паво́дле за́паведзяў Яго. Вось за́паведзь, якую вы чулі ад пачатку, каб паво́дле яе жылí.

And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

Бо ў свет увайшло́ многа ашука́нцаў, якія не прызнаю́ць Іісуса Хрыста, што прыйшо́ў у плоці: такі чалавек — ашука́нец і анты́хрыст.

For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Сцеражы́цеся, каб вы не страцілі таго, над чым працава́лі, а каб атрыма́лі поўную ўзнагаро́ду.

Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

Кожны, хто паруша́е вучэ́нне Хрыстова і не застае́цца ў ім, той не ма́е Бога; а хто застае́цца ў вучэ́нні Хрысто́вым, той і Айца, і Сына ма́е.

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

Калі хто прыхо́дзіць да вас і не прыно́сіць гэтага вучэ́ння, не прыма́йце яго ў дом і не віта́йце яго;

If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

бо хто віта́е яго, той саўдзе́льнічае ў злых спра́вах яго.

For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Многае меў я напіса́ць вам, але не захацеў я на папе́ры чарнíлам, а спадзяю́ся прыйсцí да вас і ву́сна пагавары́ць, каб ра́дасць ваша была поўнай.

Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

Віта́юць цябе дзеці сястры тваёй абра́най. Амінь.

The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.
