После всех этих событий ГОСПОДЬ сказал Моисею:

Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

«Поговори с сынами Израилевыми и возьми у них по одному посоху от каждого колена — у всех двенадцати вождей; напиши имя каждого из этих мужей на его посохе.

“Speak to the sons of Israel, and get from them a rod for each father’s household: twelve rods, from all their leaders according to their fathers’ households. You shall write each name on his rod,

На посохе Левия напиши имя Аарона — по одному посоху должно быть от главы колена.

and write Aaron’s name on the rod of Levi; for there is one rod for the head of each of their fathers’ households.

Посохи положи в Шатре Откровения, перед ковчегом Свидетельства,1 там, где Я являюсь вам.

“You shall then deposit them in the tent of meeting in front of the testimony, where I meet with you.

И посох человека, Мной избранного, оживет и распустится. Так остановлю Я ропот сынов Израилевых, постоянно ропщущих на вас».

“It will come about that the rod of the man whom I choose will sprout. Thus I will lessen from upon Myself the grumblings of the sons of Israel, who are grumbling against you.”

Моисей рассказал об этом сынам Израилевым, и их вожди дали ему двенадцать посохов: по одному посоху от каждого вождя, главы колена. Был среди них и посох Аарона.

Moses therefore spoke to the sons of Israel, and all their leaders gave him a rod apiece, for each leader according to their fathers’ households, twelve rods, with the rod of Aaron among their rods.

Моисей положил все посохи пред ГОСПОДОМ, в Шатре, у ковчега Свидетельства.

So Moses deposited the rods before the LORD in the tent of the testimony.

На следующий день Моисей вошел в Шатер Свидетельства и увидел, что посох Аарона, посох колена Левия, на самом деле распустился: появились почки, распустились цветы и созрел миндаль.

Now on the next day Moses went into the tent of the testimony; and behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi had sprouted and put forth buds and produced blossoms, and it bore ripe almonds.

И вынес Моисей все посохи, что были пред ГОСПОДОМ, и показал их всем сынам Израилевым. Они осмотрели их, и каждый взял свой посох.

Moses then brought out all the rods from the presence of the LORD to all the sons of Israel; and they looked, and each man took his rod.

А ГОСПОДЬ сказал Моисею: «Посох Аарона внеси назад и положи у ковчега Свидетельства; пусть там он хранится как предостережение для строптивцев, чтобы ты мог угашать их ропот против Меня и не умирали бы они».

But the LORD said to Moses, “Put back the rod of Aaron before the testimony to be kept as a sign against the rebels, that you may put an end to their grumblings against Me, so that they will not die.”

Моисей сделал так, как повелел ему ГОСПОДЬ.

Thus Moses did; just as the LORD had commanded him, so he did.

Но сыны Израилевы говорили Моисею: «Мы уже не жильцы на свете. Это наш смертный приговор.

Then the sons of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, “Behold, we perish, we are dying, we are all dying!

Всякий, кто только приблизится к Скинии ГОСПОДНЕЙ, тому уже не жить. Так, значит, мы все обречены на смерть?»

“Everyone who comes near, who comes near to the tabernacle of the LORD, must die. Are we to perish completely?”
