Sing to the Lord a New Song!

¹ {A Psalm.} Sing ye unto Jehovah a new song: for he hath done wondrous things; his right hand and his holy arm hath wrought salvation for him.

² Jehovah hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the nations.

³ He hath remembered his loving-kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

⁴ Shout aloud unto Jehovah, all the earth; break forth and shout for joy, and sing psalms.

⁵ Sing psalms unto Jehovah with the harp: with the harp, and the voice of a song;

⁶ With trumpets and sound of cornet, make a joyful noise before the King, Jehovah.

⁷ Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein;

⁸ Let the floods clap [their] hands; let the mountains sing for joy together,

⁹ Before Jehovah, for he cometh to judge the earth: he will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

Пс 98 Этот псалом, также являющийся гимном хвалы Господу, написан в ином ключе и отличается от Пс 95−97. Лейтмотив псалма — чувство благоговения и священного трепета перед Господом — Царем вселенной.

98:1 См. статью «Величие Божие».

98:2 Этот стих, провозглашая величие Божие на Сионе, распространяет его на всю землю и все народы.

98:3 великое и страшное, имя Твое. Иными словами, священное (см. Втор 5:11).

98:6 Моисей... Аарон... Самуил. Вождь, первосвященник и царь. Псалмопевец проводит мысль, что высшие из сынов человеческих взывали к Господу, а Он внимал им, как стоящий неизмеримо выше их.

98:7 В столпе облачном. См. Исх 40:34−38.

98:8 Богом прощающим и наказывающим. Господь наказывает Своих детей, как любящий Отец, и прощает, как милосердный Царь, поскольку суд и милость — в Его власти и Он милует всех, искренне прибегающих к Нему.

98:9 ибо свят. В этих словах содержится основной догмат веры — святость Бога.
