The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech and Tiras.

Die Söhne Jafets: Gomer und Magog und Madai und Jawan und Tubal und Meschech und Tiras.

The sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Diphath, and Togarmah.

Und die Söhne Gomers: Aschkenas und Rifat und Togarma.

The sons of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim and Rodanim.

Und die Söhne Jawans: Elischaⓓ und Tarsis, die Kittäer und die Rodaniter.

The sons of Ham were Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.

Die Söhne Hams: Kusch und Mizrajim, Put und Kanaan.

The sons of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabta, Raama and Sabteca; and the sons of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan.

Und die Söhne von Kusch: Seba und Hawila und Sabta und Ragma und Sabtecha. Und die Söhne Ragmas: Saba und Dedan.

Cush became the father of Nimrod; he began to be a mighty one in the earth.

Und Kusch zeugte Nimrod; der fing an, ein Gewaltiger auf der Erde zu sein. —

Mizraim became the father of the people of Lud, Anam, Lehab, Naphtuh,

Und Mizrajim zeugte die Luditer und die Anamiter und die Lehabiter und die Naftuhiter

Pathrus, Casluh, from which the Philistines came, and Caphtor.

Canaan became the father of Sidon, his firstborn, Heth,

the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites,

The sons of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, Aram, Uz, Hul, Gether and Meshech.

Arpachshad became the father of Shelah and Shelah became the father of Eber.

Und Arpachschad zeugte Schelach, und Schelach zeugte Eber.

Two sons were born to Eber, the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided, and his brother’s name was Joktan.

Und Eber wurden zwei Söhne geboren: Der Name des einen war Peleg, denn in seinen Tagen wurde die Erde verteilt[3]; und der Name seines Bruders war Joktan.

Joktan became the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,

Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,

und Hadoram und Usal und Dikla

Ebal, Abimael, Sheba,

und Obal und Abimaël und Saba

Ophir, Havilah and Jobab; all these were the sons of Joktan.

Shem, Arpachshad, Shelah,

Sem, Arpachschad, Schelach,

Eber, Peleg, Reu,

Eber, Peleg, Regu,

Serug, Nahor, Terah,

Abram, that is Abraham.

The sons of Abraham were Isaac and Ishmael.

These are their genealogies: the firstborn of Ishmael was Nebaioth, then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,

Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah; these were the sons of Ishmael.

Jetur, Nafischⓚ und Kedma; das sind die Söhne Ismaels.

The sons of Keturah, Abraham’s concubine, whom she bore, were Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah. And the sons of Jokshan were Sheba and Dedan.

ⓛ Und die Söhne der Ketura, der Nebenfrau Abrahams: sie gebar Simran und Jokschan und Medan und Midian und Jischbak und Schuach. Und die Söhne Jokschans: Saba und Dedan.

The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida and Eldaah. All these were the sons of Keturah.

Und die Söhne Midians: Efa und Efer und Henoch und Abida und Eldaa. Diese alle waren Söhne der Ketura. —

Abraham became the father of Isaac. The sons of Isaac were Esau and Israel.

Und Abraham zeugte Isaakⓜ. Die Söhne Isaaks: Esauⓝ und Israelⓞ.

The sons of Esau were Eliphaz, Reuel, Jeush, Jalam and Korah.

ⓟ Die Söhne Esaus: Elifas, Reguël und Jëusch und Jalam und Korach.

The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zephi, Gatam, Kenaz, Timna and Amalek.

Die Söhne des Elifas: Teman und Omar, Zefo und Gatam, Kenas und Timna und Amalek.

The sons of Reuel were Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah.

Die Söhne Reguëls: Nahat, Serach, Schamma und Misa.

The sons of Seir were Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer and Dishan.

Und die Söhne Seïrs: Lotan und Schobal und Zibon und Ana und Dischon und Ezer und Dischan.

The sons of Lotan were Hori and Homam; and Lotan’s sister was Timna.

Und die Söhne Lotans: Hori und Hemam; und die Schwester Lotans: Timna.

The sons of Shobal were Alian, Manahath, Ebal, Shephi and Onam. And the sons of Zibeon were Aiah and Anah.

Die Söhne Schobals: Alwan und Manahat und Ebal, Schefi und Onam. Und die Söhne Zibons: Aja und Ana.

The son of Anah was Dishon. And the sons of Dishon were Hamran, Eshban, Ithran and Cheran.

Die Söhne Anas: Dischon. Und die Söhne Dischons: Hemdan und Eschban und Jitran und Keran. —

The sons of Ezer were Bilhan, Zaavan and Jaakan. The sons of Dishan were Uz and Aran.

Die Söhne Ezers: Bilhan und Saawan und Akan. Die Söhne Dischans: Uz und Aran.

Now these are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom before any king of the sons of Israel reigned. Bela was the son of Beor, and the name of his city was Dinhabah.

ⓠ Und das sind die Könige, die im Land Edom regiert haben, ehe ein König über die Söhne Israel regierte: Bela, der Sohn Beors; und der Name seiner Stadt war Dinhaba.

When Bela died, Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah became king in his place.

Und Bela starb; und an seiner Stelle wurde Jobab, der Sohn Serachs, aus Bozra König.

When Jobab died, Husham of the land of the Temanites became king in his place.

Und Jobab starb; und an seiner Stelle wurde Huscham aus dem Land der Temaniter König.

When Husham died, Hadad the son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the field of Moab, became king in his place; and the name of his city was Avith.

Und Huscham starb; und an seiner Stelle wurde Hadad, der Sohn Bedads, König, der Midian schlug im Gebiet[5] Moabs; und der Name seiner Stadt war Awit.

When Hadad died, Samlah of Masrekah became king in his place.

Und Hadad starb; und an seiner Stelle wurde Samla aus Masreka König.

When Samlah died, Shaul of Rehoboth by the River became king in his place.

Und Samla starb; und König an seiner Stelle wurde Schaul aus Rehobot am Strom.

When Shaul died, Baal-hanan the son of Achbor became king in his place.

Und Schaul starb; und an seiner Stelle wurde Baal-Hanan, der Sohn Achbors, König.

When Baal-hanan died, Hadad became king in his place; and the name of his city was Pai, and his wife’s name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.

Und Baal-Hanan starb; und an seiner Stelle wurde Hadad König; und der Name seiner Stadt war Pagu, und der Name seiner Frau Mehetabel, die Tochter Matreds, die Tochter Me-Sahabs.

Then Hadad died. Now the chiefs of Edom were: chief Timna, chief Aliah, chief Jetheth,

Und Hadad starb. Und Fürsten[6] von Edom waren: Fürst Timna, Fürst Alwa, Fürst Jetet,

chief Oholibamah, chief Elah, chief Pinon,

Fürst Oholibama, Fürst Ela, Fürst Pinon,

chief Kenaz, chief Teman, chief Mibzar,

Fürst Kenas, Fürst Teman, Fürst Mibzar,

chief Magdiel, chief Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom.

Fürst Magdiël, Fürst Iram. Das sind ‹die› Fürsten von Edom.
