Paul, a bond-servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness,

Павел, слуга Бога і апостал Езуса Хрыста, дзеля веры тых, каго выбраў Бог, і спазнання праўды дзеля пабожнасці,

in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago,

у надзеі на вечнае жыццё, якое спрадвеку абяцаў праўдзівы Бог,

but at the proper time manifested, even His word, in the proclamation with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior,

а ў адпаведныя часы з’явіў сваё слова ў прапаведаванні, давераным мне паводле загаду Бога, Збаўцы нашага,

To Titus, my true child in a common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

Ціту, сапраўднаму сыну ў супольнай веры: ласка і спакой ад Бога Айца і Езуса Хрыста, Збаўцы нашага.

For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed you,

Дзеля таго я пакінуў цябе на Крыце, каб ты прывёў у парадак тое, што засталося незакончаным, і прызначыў па гарадах старэйшын, як я наказваў табе,

namely, if any man is above reproach, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, not accused of dissipation or rebellion.

калі толькі гэта будзе чалавек бездакорны, муж адной жанчыны, які мае веруючых дзяцей, неабвінавачаных у распусце ці непаслухмянасці.

For the overseer must be above reproach as God’s steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not addicted to wine, not pugnacious, not fond of sordid gain,

Таму біскуп, як Божы распарадчык, павінен быць бездакорны, не дзёрзкі, не гняўлівы, не п’яніца, не задзірысты, не карыслівы,

but hospitable, loving what is good, sensible, just, devout, self-controlled,

але гасцінны, любячы дабро, разважлівы, справядлівы, пабожны, дысцыплінаваны,

holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict.

які трымаецца, згодна з вучэннем, праўдзівага слова, каб быў моцны, мог заахвочваць у здаровым вучэнні і пераконваць тых, хто супярэчыць.

For there are many rebellious men, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,

Бо ёсць шмат непаслухмяных, пустасловаў ды спакушальнікаў, асабліва сярод абрэзаных,

who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake of sordid gain.

якім трэба закрыць вусны, бо яны цэлыя дамы руйнуюць, навучаючы таму, што не належыць, дзеля ганебнай карысці.

One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”

Сказаў жа хтосьці з іх, уласны іх прарок: «Крыцяне пастаянна маняць, яны лютыя звяры і лянівыя жываты».

This testimony is true. For this reason reprove them severely so that they may be sound in the faith,

Сведчанне гэтае праўдзівае. Таму дакарай іх строга, каб трывалі ў здаровай веры,

not paying attention to Jewish myths and commandments of men who turn away from the truth.

не звяртаючы ўвагі на юдэйскія байкі ці на загады людзей, якія адварочваюцца ад праўды.

To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.

Для чыстых усё чыстае. Для апаганеных і няверучых няма нічога чыстага, бо забруджаны іх думкі і сумленне.

They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.

Кажуць, што ведаюць Бога, але сваімі ўчынкамі пярэчаць гэтаму. Яны агідныя і непаслухмяныя, няздатныя да ніякай добрай справы.
