Then the Angel of the Lord came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said: “I led you up from Egypt and brought you to the land of which I swore to your fathers; and I said, ‘I will never break My covenant with you.

Пришел из Гилгала в Бохим ангел ГОСПОДЕНЬ1 и возвестил слова Господни: «Я вывел вас из Египта и привел в эту землю, как и обещал клятвенно отцам вашим. Сказал Я тогда: „Вовеки Я не нарушу Своего союза с вами,

And you shall make no [a]covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this?

а вы не вступайте в союз с жителями этой земли, жертвенники их сокрушите!“2 Но вы не послушали голоса Моего. Что же вы сделали?

Therefore I also said, ‘I will not drive them out before you; but they shall be thorns[b] in your side, and their gods shall [c]be a snare to you.’ ”

Потому теперь Я говорю вам: не избавлю Я вас от этих народов,3 станут они для вас западней, а их боги для вас — ловчей сетью».

So it was, when the Angel of the Lord spoke these words to all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voices and wept.

И когда возвестил это ангел ГОСПОДЕНЬ израильтянам, то народ поднял вопль и зарыдал.

Then they called the name of that place [d]Bochim; and they sacrificed there to the Lord.

Потому и назвали это место Бохим4 и принесли там ГОСПОДУ жертвы.

And when Joshua had dismissed the people, the children of Israel went each to his own inheritance to possess the land.

Когда Иисус Навин отпустил народ, разошлись израильтяне по своим наделам, чтобы вступить во владение землей.

So the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the Lord which He had done for Israel.

И народ служил ГОСПОДУ, был предан Ему во времена Иисуса и позже, пока были живы старейшины — свидетели всех деяний ГОСПОДА, какие совершил Он для Израиля.5

Now Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died when he was one hundred and ten years old.

Умер Иисус Навин, слуга ГОСПОДЕНЬ, в возрасте ста десяти лет.

And they buried him within the border of his inheritance at Timnath Heres, in the mountains of Ephraim, on the north side of Mount Gaash.

И похоронили его в землях, полученных им в наследие, в Тимнат-Хересе на Ефремовом нагорье, к северу от горы Гааш.

When all that generation had [e]been gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who did not know the Lord nor the work which He had done for Israel.

А когда всё старшее поколение отправилось к праотцам, пришло после него новое поколение, не знавшее ГОСПОДА и не помнившее дел, которые Он сотворил для Израиля,

Then the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served the Baals;

и стали израильтяне творить зло перед ГОСПОДОМ, служить ваалам.

and they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt; and they followed other gods from among the gods of the people who were all around them, and they bowed down to them; and they provoked the Lord to anger.

Оставили они ГОСПОДА, Бога отцов своих, Который вывел их из Египта, и устремились к чужим богам, богам народов, живших вокруг них, и поклонялись им, навлекая на себя гнев ГОСПОДЕНЬ.

They forsook the Lord and served [f]Baal and the [g]Ashtoreths.

ГОСПОДА они оставили, служа Ваалу и астартам.

And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel. So He delivered them into the hands of plunderers who despoiled them; and He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, so that they could no longer stand before their enemies.

Разгневался тогда ГОСПОДЬ на Израиль и отдал его грабителям на разграбление, предал в руки врагов, окружавших его, и уже не устоять было израильтянам перед ними.

Wherever they went out, the hand of the Lord was against them for calamity, as the Lord had said, and as the Lord had sworn to them. And they were greatly distressed.

Во всем, что бы они ни предпринимали, на их беду настигала их рука ГОСПОДНЯ, как и предупреждал их ГОСПОДЬ, как и поклялся им. И постигли израильтян тяжкие беды.

Nevertheless, the Lord raised up judges who delivered them out of the hand of those who plundered them.

И тогда ГОСПОДЬ послал им на помощь судей,6 чтобы те избавляли их от грабителей.

Yet they would not listen to their judges, but they played the harlot with other gods, and bowed down to them. They turned quickly from the way in which their fathers walked, in obeying the commandments of the Lord; they did not do so.

Но израильтяне и судей своих не слушали, блудили с чужими богами, поклоняясь им. Легко оставили они путь, которым шли их отцы: отцы повиновались заповедям ГОСПОДНИМ, а дети их преступали.

And when the Lord raised up judges for them, the Lord was with the judge and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the Lord was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who oppressed them and harassed them.

Когда ГОСПОДЬ посылал им судей, то пребывал Сам с этим судьей, и пока судья был жив, ГОСПОДЬ спасал народ от врагов, миловал униженных и угнетенных, слыша стоны их.

And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they reverted and behaved more corruptly than their fathers, by following other gods, to serve them and bow down to them. They did not cease from their own doings nor from their stubborn way.

Но едва судья умирал, израильтяне снова впадали в разврат, хуже отцов своих поступали, шли вслед чужих богов и, служа и поклоняясь им непрестанно,7 безоглядно творили всё те же дела.

Then the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel; and He said, “Because this nation has transgressed My covenant which I commanded their fathers, and has not heeded My voice,

Потому разгневался ГОСПОДЬ на Израиль и сказал им: «Этот народ нарушил Союз со Мной, преступил Завет Мой, который заповедал Я отцам их, и голоса Моего не слушает.

I also will no longer drive out before them any of the nations which Joshua left when he died,

За это и Я не избавлю их от всех тех народов, что остались в Ханаане после смерти Иисуса,8

so that through them I may test Israel, whether they will keep the ways of the Lord, to walk in them as their fathers kept them, or not.”

чтобы испытать народ Мой, Израиль, — станет ли он так же неуклонно следовать по пути ГОСПОДНЕМУ, как отцы его следовали, или не станет».

Therefore the Lord left those nations, without driving them out immediately; nor did He deliver them into the hand of Joshua.

Потому ГОСПОДЬ и оставил эти народы, не изгнал их сразу, не предал в руки Иисуса.
