Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag;

И҆ бы́сть є҆гда̀ ѹ҆́мре саѹ́лъ, и҆ даві́дъ возврати́сѧ побѣди́въ а҆мали́ка, и҆ пребы́сть даві́дъ въ секела́зѣ дни҄ два̀.

It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.

И҆ бы́сть въ тре́тїй де́нь, и҆ сѐ, мѹ́жъ прїи́де ѿ полка̀ люді́й саѹ́ловыхъ, ри҄зы же є҆гѡ̀ (бѧ́хѹ) раздра҄ны, и҆ пе́рсть на главѣ̀ є҆гѡ̀: и҆ бы́сть є҆гда̀ вни́де къ даві́дѹ (ѻ҆́трокъ), и҆ па́дъ на землѝ поклони́сѧ є҆мѹ̀.

And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.

И҆ речѐ є҆мѹ̀ даві́дъ: ѿкѹ́дѹ ты̀ прише́лъ є҆сѝ; И҆ речѐ є҆мѹ̀: ѿ полка̀ ї҆и҃лева а҆́зъ и҆збѣго́хъ.

And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.

И҆ речѐ є҆мѹ̀ даві́дъ: что̀ сло́во сїѐ; возвѣсти́ ми. И҆ речѐ: ѩ҆́кѡ побѣго́ша лю́дїе ѿ бра́ни, и҆ падо́ша мно́зи ѿ люді́й, и҆ и҆змро́ша, и҆ саѹ́лъ и҆ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ сы́нъ є҆гѡ̀ ѹ҆́мре.

And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?

И҆ речѐ даві́дъ ѻ҆́трокѹ возвѣсти́вшемѹ є҆мѹ̀: ка́кѡ зна́еши, ѩ҆́кѡ ѹ҆́мре саѹ́лъ и҆ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ сы́нъ є҆гѡ̀;

And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.

И҆ речѐ ѻ҆́трокъ возвѣща́ѧй є҆мѹ̀: по слѹ́чаю прїидо́хъ въ го́рѹ гелвѹ́йскѹю, и҆ сѐ, саѹ́лъ напада́ше на копїѐ своѐ, и҆ сѐ, колєсни́цы и҆ вельмѡ́жи собра́шасѧ на́нь:

And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here am I.

и҆ ѡ҆бозрѣ́сѧ вспѧ́ть (саѹ́лъ) и҆ ви́дѣ мѧ̀, и҆ призва́ мѧ, и҆ рѣ́хъ: сѐ, а҆́зъ:

And he said unto me, Who art thou? And I answered him, I am an Amalekite.

и҆ рече́ ми: кто̀ ты̀ є҆сѝ; и҆ рѣ́хъ: а҆маликі́тинъ є҆́смь а҆́зъ:

He said unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is come upon me, because my life is yet whole in me.

и҆ рече́ ми: прїидѝ ѹ҆̀бо на мѧ̀ и҆ ѹ҆бі́й мѧ̀, ѩ҆́кѡ ѡ҆б̾ѧ́тъ мѧ̀ тма̀ лю́таѧ, ѩ҆́кѡ є҆щѐ дѹша̀ моѧ̀ во мнѣ̀:

So I stood upon him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he was fallen: and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord.

и҆ ста́хъ над̾ ни́мъ, и҆ ѹ҆би́хъ є҆го̀: вѣ́дѣхъ бо, ѩ҆́кѡ не бѹ́детъ жи́въ по паде́нїи свое́мъ: и҆ взѧ́въ вѣне́цъ ца́рскїй, и҆́же бѣ̀ на главѣ̀ є҆гѡ̀, и҆ нара́мницѹ, ѩ҆́же бѣ̀ на плєщѹ̀ є҆гѡ̀, и҆ принесо́хъ сїѧ҄ къ господи́нѹ моемѹ̀ сѣ́мѡ.

Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him:

И҆ є҆́мьсѧ даві́дъ за ри҄зы своѧ҄, и҆ раздра̀ ѧ҆̀, и҆ всѝ мѹ́жїе и҆́же съ ни́мъ раздра́ша ри҄зы своѧ҄,

And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.

и҆ рыда́ша и҆ пла́кашасѧ, и҆ пости́шасѧ до ве́чера ѡ҆ саѹ́лѣ, и҆ ѡ҆ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нѣ сы́нѣ є҆гѡ̀, и҆ ѡ҆ лю́дехъ ї҆ѹ́диныхъ и҆ ѡ҆ до́мѣ ї҆и҃левѣ, ѩ҆́кѡ и҆збїе́ни бы́ша мече́мъ.

And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.

И҆ речѐ даві́дъ ѻ҆́трокѹ возвѣсти́вшемѹ є҆мѹ̀: ѿкѹ́дѹ ты̀ є҆сѝ; И҆ речѐ: сы́нъ мѹ́жа прише́лца а҆маликі́тина є҆́смь а҆́зъ.

And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the LORD'S anointed?

И҆ речѐ є҆мѹ̀ даві́дъ: ка́кѡ не ѹ҆боѧ́лсѧ є҆сѝ воздви́гнѹти рѹ́кѹ твою̀ погѹби́ти хрїста̀ гд҇нѧ;

And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died.

И҆ призва̀ даві́дъ є҆ди́наго ѿ ѻ҆́трѡкъ свои́хъ и҆ речѐ: и҆дѝ, ѹ҆бі́й є҆го̀. И҆ ѹ҆бѝ є҆го̀, и҆ ѹ҆́мре.

And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD'S anointed.

И҆ речѐ є҆мѹ̀ даві́дъ: кро́вь твоѧ̀ на главѣ̀ твое́й, ѩ҆́кѡ ѹ҆ста̀ твоѧ҄ на тѧ̀ возвѣща́ша, глаго́люще: ѩ҆́кѡ а҆́зъ ѹ҆би́хъ хрїста̀ гд҇нѧ.

And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son:

И҆ пла́касѧ даві́дъ пла́чемъ си́мъ ѡ҆ саѹ́лѣ и҆ ѡ҆ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нѣ сы́нѣ є҆гѡ̀,

(Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.)

и҆ речѐ є҆́же наѹчи́ти сы́ны ї҆ѹ҄дины стрѣлѧ́нїю. Сѐ напи́сано въ кни́зѣ првднагѡ.

The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen!

И҆ речѐ: воздви́гни сто́лпъ, ї҆и҃лю, над̾ ѹ҆ме́ршими на высо́кихъ твои́хъ ѩ҆́звеными: ка́кѡ падо́ша си́льнїи;

Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.

не возвѣща́йте въ ге́ѳѣ, нижѐ повѣ́дайте на и҆схо́дищихъ а҆скалѡ́нихъ, да не возвеселѧ́тсѧ дщє́ри и҆ноплемє́нничи, ни да возра́дѹютсѧ дщє́ри неѡбрѣ́занныхъ.

Ye mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew, neither let there be rain, upon you, nor fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty is vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, as though he had not been anointed with oil.

Го́ры гелвѹ҄йскїѧ, да не сни́детъ роса̀ нижѐ до́ждь на ва́съ: и҆ се́ла нача́ткѡвъ (жи́тныхъ), ѩ҆́кѡ та́мѡ пове́рженъ бы́сть щи́тъ си́льныхъ: щи́тъ саѹ́ловъ не бы́ти пома́занъ є҆ле́емъ:

From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty.

ѿ кро́ве ѩ҆́звеныхъ и҆ ѿ тѹ́ка си́льныхъ лѹ́къ ї҆ѡнаѳа́новъ не возврати́сѧ то́щь вспѧ́ть, и҆ ме́чь саѹ́ловъ не возврати́сѧ то́щь:

Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.

саѹ́лъ и҆ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ возлю́бленнїи и҆ прекра́снїи неразлѹ́чни, благолѣ́пни въ животѣ̀ свое́мъ, и҆ въ сме́рти свое́й не разлѹчи́шасѧ: па́че ѻ҆рлѡ́въ ле́гцы и҆ па́че львѡ́въ крѣ́пцы:

Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with other delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your apparel.

пла́чите по саѹ́лѣ, дщє́ри ї҆и҃лєвы, и҆́же ва́съ ѡ҆блача́ше въ червлєни́цы со ѹ҆краше́нїемъ ва́шимъ, и҆ возлага́ше ѹ҆краше́нїе зла́то на ри҄зы ва́шѧ:

How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, thou wast slain in thine high places.

ка́кѡ падо́ша си́льнїи посредѣ̀ бра́ни; ї҆ѡнаѳа́не, до сме́рти на высо́кихъ твои́хъ ѩ҆́звенъ є҆сѝ:

I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.

болѣ́знѹю ѡ҆ тебѣ̀, бра́те мо́й ї҆ѡнаѳа́не, кра́сный мѝ ѕѣлѡ̀, ѹ҆диви́сѧ любо́вь твоѧ̀ ѿ менє̀ па́че любвѐ же́нскїѧ:

How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!

ка́кѡ падо́ша си́льнїи, и҆ погибо́ша ѻ҆рѹ҄жїѧ бра҄ннаѧ;
