After the death of Joshua, the people of Israel inquired of the Lord, “Who shall go up first for us against the Canaanites, to fight against them?”

І было, па сьмерці Ігошуі, і папыталіся сынове Ізраелявы ў СПАДАРА, кажучы: «Хто ўзыйдзе нам спачатку на Канааняніна, каб ваяваць ізь ім?»

The Lord said, “Judah shall go up; behold, I have given the land into his hand.”

І сказаў СПАДАР: «Юда ўзыйдзе; вось, Я даў зямлю ў руку ягоную».

And Judah said to Simeon his brother, “Come up with me into the territory allotted to me, that we may fight against the Canaanites. And I likewise will go with you into the territory allotted to you.” So Simeon went with him.

І сказаў Юда Сымону, брату свайму: «Узыйдзі з імною да жэрабя майго, і будзем ваяваць із Канаанянінам; і пайду таксама я з табою да жэрабя твайго». І пайшоў зь ім Сымон.

Then Judah went up and the Lord gave the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand, and they defeated 10,000 of them at Bezek.

І ўзышоў Юда, і даў СПАДАР Канааняніна а Ферэзэя ў руку іхную, і пабілі яны іх у Везэку дзесяць тысячаў чалавекаў.

They found Adoni-bezek at Bezek and fought against him and defeated the Canaanites and the Perizzites.

І знайшлі яны Адоні-Везэка ў Везэку, і ваявалі зь ім, і паразілі Канааняніна а Ферэзэя.

Adoni-bezek fled, but they pursued him and caught him and cut off his thumbs and his big toes.

І ўцёк Адоні-Везэк; а яны пагналіся за ім, і схапілі яго, і адцялі вялікія палцы на руках ягоных і на нагах ягоных.

And Adoni-bezek said, “Seventy kings with their thumbs and their big toes cut off used to pick up scraps under my table. As I have done, so God has repaid me.” And they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.

І сказаў Адоні-Везэк: «Семдзясят каралёў з адцятымі на руках а на нагах іхных вялікімі палцамі зьбіралі пад сталом маім; як рабіў я, так імне аддаў Бог». І прывялі яго да Ерузаліму, і ён памер там.

And the men of Judah fought against Jerusalem and captured it and struck it with the edge of the sword and set the city on fire.

І ваявалі сынове Юдзіны супроці Ерузаліму, і ўзялі яго, і зразілі яго лязом мяча, і места аканавалі цяплу.

And afterward the men of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites who lived in the hill country, in the Negeb, and in the lowland.

І потым зышлі сынове Юдзіны ваяваць із Канаанянінам, жыхарам гораў, і на паўдню і на нізіне.

And Judah went against the Canaanites who lived in Hebron (now the name of Hebron was formerly Kiriath-arba), and they defeated Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai.

І пайшоў Юда на Канааняніна, каторы жыў у Гэўроне, імя ж Гэўрону ўперад Кіраф-Арба, і зразілі Шэшая а Агімана а Фалмая.

From there they went against the inhabitants of Debir. The name of Debir was formerly Kiriath-sepher.

І пайшоў стуль ён супроці жыхараў Дэвіру; імя Дэвіру ўперад Кіраф-Сэфер.

And Caleb said, “He who attacks Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will give him Achsah my daughter for a wife.”

І сказаў Калеў: «Хто зразе Кіраф-Сэфер і зваюе яго, то аддам яму Ахсу, дачку сваю, за жонку».

And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, captured it. And he gave him Achsah his daughter for a wife.

І зваяваў яго Офнель Кенаёнак, сын брата Калевавага, меншага за яго; і даў яму Ахсу, дачку сваю, за жонку.

When she came to him, she urged him to ask her father for a field. And she dismounted from her donkey, and Caleb said to her, “What do you want?”

І было, як яна мела ісьці, што яна намовіла яго прасіць у вайца ейнага тое поле, і яна ссунулася з асла. І сказаў ёй Калеў: «Чаго табе?»

She said to him, “Give me a blessing. Since you have set me in the land of the Negeb, give me also springs of water.” And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

І сказала яму: «Дай імне дабраславенства, бо зямлю паўднявую ты даў імне, то дай імне й жаролы водаў». І даў ёй Калеў жаролы вышнія й жаролы дольнія.

And the descendants of the Kenite, Moses’ father-in-law, went up with the people of Judah from the city of palms into the wilderness of Judah, which lies in the Negeb near Arad, and they went and settled with the people.

І сынове Кіняніна, сьця Масеявага, узышлі зь места пальмаў із сынамі Юдзінамі на пустыню Юдзіну, каторая на паўдня ад Араду, і пайшоў, і асяліўся зь людам.

And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they defeated the Canaanites who inhabited Zephath and devoted it to destruction. So the name of the city was called Hormah.a

І пайшоў Юда із Сымонам, братам сваім, і зразілі Канааняніна, жыхара Цэфафа, і аканавалі яго, і названа места гэтае Горма.

Judah also captured Gaza with its territory, and Ashkelon with its territory, and Ekron with its territory.

Юда заваяваў Ґазу а граніцы яе, і Ашкелон у граніцах яго, і Екрон у граніцах яго.

And the Lord was with Judah, and he took possession of the hill country, but he could not drive out the inhabitants of the plain because they had chariots of iron.

І быў СПАДАР ізь Юдаю, і ён апанаваў гару. Але не прагнаў жыхараў даліны, бо зялезныя цялежкі былі ў іх.

And Hebron was given to Caleb, as Moses had said. And he drove out from it the three sons of Anak.

І аддалі Калеву Гэўрон, як казаў Масей, і выгнаў стуль трох сыноў Енаковых.

But the people of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites who lived in Jerusalem, so the Jebusites have lived with the people of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.

Але Евусэя, жыхара Ерузаліму, ня выгналі сынове Веняміновы, і жыў Евусэй із сынамі Веняміновымі ў Ерузаліме дагэтуль.

The house of Joseph also went up against Bethel, and the Lord was with them.

І ўзышлі сынове Язэпавы, таксама яны, на Бэт-Эль, і СПАДАР быў ізь імі.

And the house of Joseph scouted out Bethel. (Now the name of the city was formerly Luz.)

І шпегаваў дом Язэпаў Бэт-Эль, імя ж места ўперад: Луз.

And the spies saw a man coming out of the city, and they said to him, “Please show us the way into the city, and we will deal kindly with you.”

І абачылі старожы чалавека, каторы выходзіў зь места, і сказалі яму: «Пакажы нам уход у места, і мы зробім із табою міласэрдзе».

And he showed them the way into the city. And they struck the city with the edge of the sword, but they let the man and all his family go.

І ён паказаў ім уход у места, і зразілі яны места лязом мяча, а чалавека таго і ўсю радню ягоную адпусьцілі.

And the man went to the land of the Hittites and built a city and called its name Luz. That is its name to this day.

І пайшоў чалавек тый да зямлі Гэцічаў, і збудаваў места, і назваў імя яго Луз. Гэта імя яго дагэтуль.

Manasseh did not drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shean and its villages, or Taanach and its villages, or the inhabitants of Dor and its villages, or the inhabitants of Ibleam and its villages, or the inhabitants of Megiddo and its villages, for the Canaanites persisted in dwelling in that land.

І ня выгнаў Манас жыхараў Веф-Шэану а местачкаў ягоных, і жыхараў Фаанаху а местачкаў ягоных, жыхараў Дору а местачкаў ягоных, і жыхараў Іўлеаму а местачкаў ягоных, і жыхараў Мегіда а местачкаў ягоных, і зычыў Канаанянін жыць у зямлі гэтай.

When Israel grew strong, they put the Canaanites to forced labor, but did not drive them out completely.

І было, як Ізраель падужэў, тады зрабіў ён Канааняніна даньнікам, але выгнаць ня выгнаў яго.

And Ephraim did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer, so the Canaanites lived in Gezer among them.

І Яхрэм ня выгнаў Канааняніна, што жывець у Ґезэру, і жыў Канаанянін сярод іх у Ґезэру.

Zebulun did not drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, or the inhabitants of Nahalol, so the Canaanites lived among them, but became subject to forced labor.

Завулон ня выгнаў жыхараў Кітрону і жыхараў Нагалолу, і жыў Канаанянін сярод яго, і сталі даньнікамі.

Asher did not drive out the inhabitants of Acco, or the inhabitants of Sidon or of Ahlab or of Achzib or of Helbah or of Aphik or of Rehob,

Ашэр ня выгнаў жыхараў Акка а жыхараў Сыдону а Аглаву а Ахзыву а Гэлвы а Афіку а Рэгову.

so the Asherites lived among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land, for they did not drive them out.

І жыў Ашэр сярод Канааняніна, жыхара зямлі тае, бо ня выгнаў іх.

Naphtali did not drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh, or the inhabitants of Beth-anath, so they lived among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land. Nevertheless, the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and of Beth-anath became subject to forced labor for them.

І Неффалім ня выгнаў жыхараў Веф-Шэмешу а жыхараў Веф-Анафу, і жыў сярод Канааняніна, жыхара зямлі тае; а жыхары Веф-Шэмешу а Веф-Анафу былі даньнікамі ім.

The Amorites pressed the people of Dan back into the hill country, for they did not allow them to come down to the plain.

І сьціскалі Аморэі сыноў Дановых у гары, бо не давалі ім зыходзіць на даліну.

The Amorites persisted in dwelling in Mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim, but the hand of the house of Joseph rested heavily on them, and they became subject to forced labor.

І зычылі Аморэі жыць на гары Гэрэс, ув Айялоне а Шаалвіме; і стала цяжкою рука сыноў Язэпавых, і сталі яны даньнікамі.

And the border of the Amorites ran from the ascent of Akrabbim, from Sela and upward.

Граніцы ж Аморэяў ад узгор’я Акравіму і ад скалы й далей.
